Problem with New AC180P

Hi @PPG, please tell us your AC180P’s SN number, and then we will help you downgrade the firmware.

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE . SN 2438000641876.

is this what is needed?
Or AC180P2438000641876

Hi @PPG, Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
The entire SN number is AC180P2438000641876.
Now I have applied to downgrade the firmware for you.
Our IT department will push the corresponding firmware to your unit in 24 hours. Please upgrade it tomorrow.
Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please let us know if it works.

Hi @PPG, Our IT department informed us that you have not upgraded yet, and therefore, downgrading is not possible.
Additionally, the Bluetooth password is hardware-related and cannot be disabled through a firmware downgrade.
The only solution is do not setting a password, which should not affect the use of your HA system.

Hello @BLUETTI_CARE - I too am having problems integrating my AC180 into Home Assistant due to the encryption on the Bluetooth connection. I have seen this post and went looking for the option to disable the Bluetooth Password, but the only option I see is to set a new password. Leaving the password field blank does not pass validation, which requires at least 6 characters for the password. Is there a different way to disable the BT encryption?

Thanks!

Hi @jdwannam, For this issue, please log into the Bluetti app, go to settings, and then to the Bluetooth connection password page.
Select “No Password” so that you don’t need a password for verification.
I hope it does help.

Hi, I am facing the same issue with a new AC180 and i just wondered if you were able to find a resolution. From my research the HA Bluetooth integration and the MQTT Add On will fail to work due to the new BT encryption. Maybe someone will find a workaround or Bluetti may come to their senses and find a way for 3rd party access…
Thanks for any info you can provide.

Unfortunately no, I tried setting and then deleting the password in the app, I’ve also tried just unbinding the unit from my app but it still does not show any data within home assistant.

Thanks for your reply… hopefully there may be an update one day that will help HA users.

Is there a resolution to the Home Assistant integration issue?

@BLUETTI_CARE Even with password disabled i’m unable to connect to my AC180P via Home Assistant due to encryption. What was the last version without this “feature” and is it possible to downgrade to it or will it be removed/optional in a future firmware release?

Thanks in advance

Hi @corefusion, It seems you need to enable Bluetooth permissions to access data via the MQTT protocol in Home Assistant, is that correct?

This requires us to apply for permission on your behalf. We’ve already submitted your request to the technical team, and they may need 1-2 working days to process it. Once completed, we’ll send an email to your registered account with the necessary information included.

Please keep an eye on your inbox, and feel free to let us know if you have any further questions in the meantime!

Hi, thanks for your response.

No, it’s not related to any permissions on my Home Assistant. It’s running on a Raspberry Pi, using Home Assistant OS. The Bluetooth works just fine.

The issue is directly caused by the encryption that was implemented recently. But for now i got it working. There’s a bluetti_mqtt Add-on that can handle the device encryption without the use of additional (closed source) software.

I still would prefer to disable this, since i don’t see any benefit in it when anyone still can connect to the device directly with the app using offline mode, so there is no real increase of security.

Hi @corefusion, We fully understand your concern.
Since your AC180P is a relatively new version, you can set a Bluetooth password in the app. This way, strangers who don’t know the password won’t be able to connect to your device.

Hi

That’s exactly what i did to prevent strangers to access my device :+1:

One more thing i would wish for is to set/unset the bluetooth password in offline mode in the app. for now this seems only possible after logging in. would be great if this feature could be added in one of the upcomming versions of the app.

Hi @corefusion

This would be illogical because it lacks proper authorization. Anybody could anonymously log into any Bluetti and set a Bluetooth password. How you differentiate between proper and improper authorization is by binding the device to an email account you own.

For others reading, note I said “an” email account and not “thee” email account. For example you don’t have to tie your primary/personal email account (that is the most sensitive to you) to the device if you value privacy and/or security. You can create an alternative. If you are uncomfortable with any device being connected to the world the best option is to simply not engage. Every website which collects data will have a privacy policy . Bluetti appears to be very transparent in what it says it does and does not collect. Safeguarding of our personal data will always be non-discretionary. We don’t get to pick and choose how they secure our sensitive information (email address, credit card, etc.) There are compliance laws everyone has to follow for safeguarding data (PCI-DSS in the US for credit cards for example) though we are at the mercy of everything else. To protect yourself further you can isolate personal details such as using a non-primary email address, use a burner credit card not tied to your primary to prevent a greater loss. Sadly a lot of people tie everything to one identity and sometimes even recycle the same password because nobody wants to remember 10 different accounts and 10 different passwords. I’ve always tried to preach security is not a convenience. This is not BK. You can’t have it your way

Hmmm. where would be the proper authorization by registering? everyone can anonymously create a account using a burner mail address and then log in to someones device and set a password. :man_shrugging:

I’m actually quite happy now with the way it works. I can read and control the device via HomeAssistant, it does not connect to any services outside my home network, the App works without internet connection when i’m going on a camping trip and also a password was set, so there should be no problem with random people connecting to the Powerstation causing any trouble.
Everything else would be a nice bonus, but far from a must have.

I also have to say the @BLUETTI_CARE team does an excellent job here for the community and i want to thank them for all the support they give their users.:+1:

Great follow up question and to answer that question I feel the due diligence would fall upon the owner to perform that task. Its your device. You don’t want anybody mucking with it? You set it up right away, not 1 year later. But let’s say I came into your camp as a troll and I anonymously logged in and started playing a prank on you turning your stuff off. You own the device. You can provide proof of purchase to Bluetti who can then unbind the unauthorized actor (i.e. me) and you can then bind it to your account.
