AC180 Excessive fan speed and noise while powering small loads

Hi @MykhailoS, Thank you for providing the video. We can hear a loud current noise, which does not seem normal.

This is likely a hardware issue. We recommend contacting customer support to arrange a repair.

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE

This is the noise of fans. After new filware for some time (20-30 minutes), the station works in complete silence, the problem is that after the update, the fans work at maximum power and do not stop until I turn off the AC button or reboot the station. After this it’s just fine for 20-30 min. Before the update, the fans did not work like that, but there was noise from the station. This is a problem in the firmware that the fan does not turn off.

Here is video example when fans are off (for this 20-30 mins): https://youtube.com/shorts/3dsUcv76FAI

Hi @MykhailoS, For this issue, we currently don’t have any new firmware available.

If you believe the problem was caused by the upgraded firmware, would you mind if we roll back to the original firmware?

We are awaiting your confirmation.

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE

After installing the update I do not see much difference in noise leveles, it behaves more or less the same as it was before update.

Hi @Merle, The new firmware only addresses the abnormal fan issue, but there are no changes for the normal fan startup.
We believe this is a normal phenomenon.

The fan on the AC180P operates under the following conditions:

  1. Charging/Discharging Power: When the charging or discharging power reaches a certain threshold, the fan will start.
  2. Internal Temperature: When the internal temperature of the AC180P reaches a certain level, the fan will also start. As the temperature decreases, the fan will stop.
Additionally, each time the unit is powered on, the fan will briefly run as part of the self-test.

We recommend that you do not artificially shorten the cooling time, as maintaining the internal temperature helps with battery health. You might also consider using an external fan to aid in cooling the AC180P, which may help accelerate the cooling process.

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE

  • We believe this is a normal phenomenon.
This is quite sad to hear, as such noise level at ~30Watt loads is just crazy. I have two other stations from different manufacturers and none of them have this problem.
It wakes me several times each night every day by just powering my laptop.

  • The fan on the AC180P operates under the following conditions:
Conditions described does not include any fan curve information - and this is what’s important here. Fans doing their job is normal. Fans making that much noise at just 30 watt of load - is not. There should be some mechanism of gradual fan speed increase for such cases - or another alternative solution.

  • We recommend that you do not artificially shorten the cooling time, as maintaining the internal temperature helps with battery health. You might also consider using an external fan to aid in cooling the AC180P, which may help accelerate the cooling process.
I do not really see how this could help with my issue.

Hi @Merle, We would like to know if you have tested the noise level, and if so, what the decibel reading was.
If you find the noise level too loud, could you please record a video and upload it to a cloud drive, then share the link with us?
We will continue to discuss this matter with the technical department.

I have 60 watt power usage, no AC, so battery is working and cooling fan working already 9 hours without stop, nope, fan working continuously - looks like you forgot about stop trigger

Guys, i need an update, guys

@BLUETTI_CARE

Hi @Kostyantin, We do not have dedicated firmware for adjusting whether the fan operates.
We recommend that you first update all firmware to the latest version, power off the device, and let it sit for 3 hours before trying again. Please enable quiet charging mode—does this resolve the issue?

@BLUETTI_CARE fyi, you do have such firmware which eliminates the never-turning-off fan problem.
You pushed it for my device somewhere in 2024, and it solved the issue. When it overheats with a 60W load, the fans kick in and turn off after a couple of minutes. The process then repeats after a while. They never turn on with a 40W load and 23°C ambient temperature. I just checked it.

@Kostyantin @MykhailoS just letting you know, guys, cause our units are from the same batch and have the same firmware numbers.
But be aware: the fans operate in this condition not at the minimum speed. Rather at medium, like it’s charging in standard mode. Still, not at full blast, like it was before :man_shrugging:

@BLUETTI_CARE
Station information:

AC1802427002103840

Lot: v9046.04

ARM: v2124.04

DSP: v2126.02

The fan runs continuously at high speed, even with no load. As soon as I turn on the power, it starts immediately and does not turn off at all — neither during charging nor when powering a load via AC up to 200V.

Is there any update available that could fix this, as mentioned above?

Hi @Tenorrisimo, thank you for getting in touch with us.
We currently do not have a dedicated firmware for adjusting fan speed, and we regret that we are unable to assist you with this specific request.
We recommend placing the unit in an environment with appropriate temperature and good ventilation. If you find the fan noise disruptive, please keep the device outside the bedroom.

this looks like a hardware defect… hopefully you still have warranty for it

@BLUETTI_CARE Maybe I should send the power station to a service center? I don’t want the fans to wear out because they are running at high speed all the time. The unit is cold, and even the wall next to it becomes cold from the airflow.

Please tell me who the official service partner in Ukraine is, someone I can trust with the device. It might be an issue with the temperature sensor that controls the cooling system. Could they replace it?

Hi @Tenorrisimo, We have a service center in Ukraine.
Please click on my profile picture, select “Message,” and send us a private message to obtain the service center’s address and contact them for support.
