Learn essential tips to keep your BLUETTI batteries in top shape.
From regular maintenance to proper storage, these simple steps work for all BLUETTI power stations. Watch now to ensure your BLUETTI products last longer and perform reliably!
About storage of the power station; In the video they say; “keep it from anything flammable”!
I think practically everything is as good as flammable in a house, camper or caravan, isn’t it?
How safe is such a power station actually:
- Can it accidentally start up by itself?
- Or explode during use, or even when it is not in use?
- Is it save to store or use it e.g. in a living-room or bedroom for instance? Even when it will be charged over AC in the night?
- When the unit is charged via AC or solar panels and is finally full, does it switch off automatically when there are no consumers attached?
- Can you store the unit in a carrying bag or a plastic box with a lid when it is not in use? E.g. in the winter months or when the unit is mainly used for power outages. This is in connection with dust and possibly. other contaminants during storage?
It may sound ridiculous to some, but I’m a bit worried about it.
Can reassure someone a little more about this
Thanks in advance
Hi @Bluemoon I will try to answer this as user to the best of my knowledge:
No, it should never do that. Shut down is shut down. However, there always is a part of the system that has power so you can start it via the electronic on-off button again.
Explosions are near impossible. First of all, the LiFePO4 battery chemistry that Bluetti uses is the safest of the Lithium based battery chemistries. Even if it is abused and overcharged it fails in a far less dramatic way than other Lithium based battery chemistries. And more importantly: All Bluetti powerstations and batteries are equipped with advanced battery management systems to make sure the unit is shut down long before unsafe situations arrive. Temperatures are managed. Currents are managed. And charging is managed so that charging stops when the battery is full.
Yes. These units are designed to be used in areas where people live. Including living rooms, bed rooms and mobile homes. The manual will give instructions to use them safely. For example: Don’t put them in direct sunlight, don’t block ventilation openings or on top of a heater.
These units are designed to be on 24/7 as UPS and they will manage their own charge levels when connected to grid power.
The unit will stay on but charging will stop. The BMS electronics will make sure the battery will never get overcharged.
When the unit is completely off, it can be put in a bag, crate or box. When the unit is on, or charging, or discharging it must not be in a container for ventilation reasons.
In short: These units are very safe when used following the guidelines in the manual. The units have an advanced safety system with many sensors to prevent any dangerous situations from happening. Still as with all electronics: There is always a small risk of a failure. When you look at the history of problems that users have had with Bluetti products, it has always been issues where an unit fails safely. I never heard of any explosions or battery fires.
