Amps on solar panels for AC200PL

April 25. Just recently purchased a AC200PL and was planning on using my povo cheap eBay solar panels to charge it. They work fine for my two other power stations VTOMAN and Allpowers. The instructions manual for the bluetti says -solar panels must meet the following requirements, current 15A max, and my solar panels are Maximum power current 16.7A and short circuit current 17.8A. Will they fry my new bluetti?

Don’t worry if Isc or Impp exceeds 15A of your AC200PL because, as you’ll see, the current will be limited to 15A. However, what’s critical is not to exceed 145V max at the solar input of your AC200PL, because otherwise you’ll burn out the solar input of your AC200PL. (Be careful when calculating the voltage supplied by your panels to your AC200PL; you must use the Voc of your panels, not Vmpp).

  • One last piece of advice: check that the voltage supplied by your panels in the series or parallel configuration (calculated with the Vmpp of your panels) is greater than 30V (because then your AC200pl won’t limit the current to 8A thinking it’s a cigarette lighter socket).

hi, i like to interfere and also ask a question regarding the same topic,
i just bought a new AC200PL and i am looking to put panels on my camper.
I would love to put the max of 1200 W but what about the 15A, is that max per panel or is this for all the panels toghetter. If i read u former answer well is not to exceed the 145V of solar imput but now it becomes difficult for me, 15 A - 1200W - 145 V … i dont know what panels to buy

Hi, my name is Andrii, I live in Odesa, Ukraine.

I have an AC200PL(purchased during blackouts in our country), connected three DAH Solar DHN-54R18/DG(BW)-455W solar panels in series, when it’s hot, the maximum I saw was 1080W, but when it’s cool outside I saw 1200W of generation, the maximum voltage is 100 volts.

My panels face east, in the afternoon I get little generation, so I plan to install 3 more of the same panels to the west and connect them in parallel, I definitely won’t exceed 145V, but I will definitely go beyond 15Amperes when the sun is at its zenith for 2-3 hours.

Has anyone tested the station in such configurations?

I read all the topics with similar questions, everyone says that the station will ignore currents greater than 15A

I will be grateful for your answers)

Hi Andrii,

  1. The AC200L can be connected to the number of solar panels shown in the diagram, but it can support a maximum of three 455W solar panels.
  2. It’s best to connect all solar panels in series since the AC200L’s PV input has a wide voltage range of 12V to 145V, with a maximum input current of only 15A. Series connections increase both voltage and current, leading to higher efficiency. Please note that mixing different types of solar panels can affect efficiency and may damage them over time.
  3. If the solar input current exceeds 15A, the AC200L will limit the current, and any excess will be wasted. While exceeding the current is okay, please ensure that the voltage does not exceed the limit.
  4. The solar input power can exceed 1200W as long as the total VOC for each PV string does not exceed 145V.

Regarding your setup with three solar panels and the plan to add three more, it’s important to monitor the current. While the station will limit current above 15A, it sounds like your configuration should work well as long as you keep the voltage within limits.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask!

Thanks for the reply!

I’ll write when I implement what I’ve planned.
