AC500, B300s

AC500 and B300s give BMS Temperature error. The system will not charge at 50 degrees fahrenheit. The system will not charge with any kind of input. The whole system is unusable if you live off grid and it gets cold. Temperatures are way within charging and operating and it still doesn’t work.

What am I supposed to do living off grid? Bend over backwards to get your product to work? I can’t even charge it with a generator when it’s 50 DEGREES! I have now been totally dependent on a generator for the entire winter.

Hi @Void, We’re concerned that the ambient temperature may not match the internal temperature of the battery cells — the cell temperature could actually be lower than the surrounding environment.

We recommend using a heating pad and creating an insulated enclosure with some ventilation. Would this help in your situation?

Correct me if I am wrong @BLUETTI_CARE , but since @Void is using the b300s batteries with the ac500, the internal heating elements inside the expansion batteries should enable at that temperature and bring the rest of the pack up to temp, as long as he’s plugged into an AC charging source?

My AC500 charges without problems at an ambient temperature of 5°C, and I only have simple B300, which aren’t heated.
I think there’s a different cause in your case.

Hi @Void, Thanks to @m.briney for the reminder — yes, I overlooked the B300S heating function. However, please note that this feature only activates when the AC or PV input power reaches a certain threshold. If the input power is too low, the heating function won’t start automatically.

Also, if the B300S shuts down due to temperatures below 0°C, it will only power back on when the internal temperature rises above 10°C. This is designed to protect the battery from damage caused by low temperatures.

Please try increasing the ambient temperature and input power to help the system warm up, then test again.

Additionally, kindly provide us with the SN code of your AC500 and the BMS version of your B300S so we can check if there’s new firmware available to optimize battery performance.

Hi @Void, We still haven’t gotten your answer, we wonder if this problem is resolved.
Our engineers are very concerned about the issue you encountered. We would like to push a new BMS firmware to your unit. Please provide the SN code of your AC500 and the BMS version.
Please feel free to contact us if you need more help.

It is now warm enough that I don’t get temperature errors every morning. I was hoping there was a better solution than having another battery to run a seed mat underneath the whole system since it worked fine the winter before until there were version updates. The app was not letting me check for updates until just recently when it notified me there was an update for your app. Then it told me there were updates for the BMS but I have had to wait for the right time since my house is so small and I have to dismantle the system and plug b300s in one at a time to update. Also the app told me what was in the ac500 update but didn’t list any details of the BMS update so hopefully when it gets down in the 30s again the BMS update will have fixed the faulty errors.

Hi @Void, Thank you for the update. We’re glad to hear that you’re no longer receiving temperature error messages.

We do have a new BMS firmware available that can further optimize battery performance in low temperatures. Could you please share the SN code of your AC500, as well as the current BMS version of your B300S battery? You can find the BMS firmware version by clicking the SOC icon in the middle—we’ve attached a screenshot for your reference.

The firmware we plan to push may be more advanced than the one currently available via the standard upgrade notification. And yes, during each upgrade, you can only connect one B300S at a time. Please wait for our push, and then feel free to upgrade at your convenience.

By the way, please note that if you need my assistance, please @BLUETTI_CARE, otherwise, I might not see your message and be able to help you promptly.
