AC180 Short No AC output

Hi, this keeps happening to me. In fact I even installed a UPS in front of my Bluetti, but it still happens. I tried all the tips given. But yet again, at 100% full, it happened again. Is there any way I can get a firmware update to fix this?

Hi @Dink, We have indeed developed firmware to fix this issue.
Please provide the SN code and current firmware version of your AC180, and we’ll apply to push the update for you.

Hi I RMAed one ac180 for this and have two AC180s that have the same problem on small power blips. Can i get this firmware too?

Hi @critten, We’re not quite sure we fully understand the issue you’re describing.
Are you saying that your AC180 shows a “Short” warning when running a low-power load?Is the issue occurring with an AC or DC load specifically?

Does restarting the unit after removing the load resolve the issue?
Also, is there an “!” icon in the top right corner of the app interface that you can tap to view the specific error code?

Additionally, please let us know the SN code and current firmware version of your AC180 so we can check if a new firmware update is available for your unit.

I too have the same issue as Dink and JZ27. Can you have your IT department push the latest firmware to my device? Thanks!

Same issue with AC180 here, “SHORT” and error codes E013 and E000 (July 2025)
It has happened several times over the past few days, starting from a 100% charge, either with or without AC load.

Reading here, I turned off ECO, turned on “Self Grid Adaption” and updated both firmwares.

I will try to monitor the device, but am now no longer trusting it to power my appliance if required.

Anything else to try? Thanks.

I have these serials:

AC1802442003367607 - new replacement, no power blip yet to test but was previously returned due to the short issue.
AC1802413001135780 - not a problem
AC1802413000678714 - not a problem
AC1802451001551497 - when there is a power blip it shorts

The last one i just had a power blip at the house and i assume it shorted because the wifi access point connected to it is down but the rest of the house shows to have power. It is annoying that this happens. Eco mode off and power lifting is on for this device.

My AC70s that replace these 180s actually work fine! Havent had a problem with those with the same power blips and such.

This is seems like a general issue with the AC180 only!

also by the way AC1802451001551497 has had issues previously, this was not a one time thing.

Mine also seems to error (short) with a power blip, and the AC70 I have that is tapping off the same house feed never has an issue.

I would also think this is a common failure (apparently) with only the AC180. I’m hoping this behavior changes, else what I’ve purchased it for is a complete waste.

yeah same, i sent one back that did that because these are fairly new after troubleshooting with support. Support told me they found nothing wrong with the unit but sent me a new one anyway. Not sure if the new one has the same issue but my two super old 180s never had this issue and i assume there is none.

Anyway - don’t know if there’s firmware to fix this - seems like brownouts or blips cause a short like the transfer from wall energy to battery glitches.

I have confirmed that if i unplug the unit from the wall and go battery - it does not short. Then i throw a load at it on battery - it doesn’t fail. After that I plug the unit back into the wall no problem. I have an AV receiver that causes the light to flicker in that room (working on getting a dedicated power port for it) but it is a good way to test the brownout blip - because that causes a short too depending on the circuit. It just seems like the unit doesn’t handle blips/brownouts. My old ac180s though does not have this problem through two years!

After Helene hit here, we wanted something which would at least give us a few hours for the fridge or freezer, and got the 180 for that. It’s worked a couple of times, but then I plugged it in and had the freezer running passthrough, and without a noticeable power blip, the 180 went into SHORT mode. Lucky I saw it, else we’d have lost the contents without actually having a problem with the house power, definitely not what I bought this for.

I’m going to keep it, I guess, until we actually lose power and then try to power one or the other for a few hours. Using it as a fail-safe failed.

I think its the passthrough that fails. Have you tried powering the freezer without passthrough? I bet it’ll work, its the transfer from Grid to Battery that it just cannot handle correctly, i believe.
