Using Charger 1 with AC70

I have a new Charger 1 in the mail to pair with my AC70 but I am curious why based on the Youtube videos that I have seen the Charger 1 on charges the AC70 at 440W and not say 500W which is the max solar input?

Would it be safe to use the custom mode to set the Voltage at say 49V to get 490W instead of 440W, or is it about optimal charge rates for the AC70?

Regards

Brett

@AC70Fanboy welcome to the forum! :raised_hands:
It is worth noting that the output power of Charger1 is determined by the device being charged; Charger1 outputs as much as AC70 requests.

I had the Charger 1 installed today, at first I was only getting just over 200W but once I told teh Charger 1 it was connected to an AC70, Wham, Bam thank you Ma’am, 500W coming in from teh car alternator, sensational!

The install and set-up was very straight forward, we even removed the MC4 connectors off the output lead and put on a new XT60 connector direct on teh output lead and it worked a treat!

Great Product, loved watching the speed of the charge percentage increasing at a very steady rate as I was driving along!

A couple of days have gone by and I am getting some issues which frustrate me a little? For example, at one stage the Charger 1 continued to charge even though the vehicle was off? I caught it pretty early so the Starter Battery Voltage was still good at 12.5V but shouldn’t it be cutting out at a higher voltage?

Fortunately though, the AC70 was near 100% so it was only drawing 170W but it should draw anything like that when the vehicle is off?

Then later that afternoon, driving home I couldn’t get any more that the 170W out of it even while the vehicle was running, it was showing 56V @ 3A = 170W. Ultimately I played a little with it and got the full 500+ W but the problem remains that it still doesn’t shut itself down when the vehicle isn’t running?

Any tips of advice will be appreciated?

Reasons why the engine is turned off but the charger1 is still charging:
1, the battery voltage is too high
2, Adaptive mode is turned off

It can be solved by the following methods:
1, Using circuit breaker
2, Adaptive mode turns on
