Unable to connect Bluetti AC2A via Bluetooth

I have the latest version of the Bluetti app, which, according to the description, requires Android 7.0 or higher.

When I activate the Bluetooth functionality, the Bluetooth icon is not visible on the AC2A’s standby LCD, but it does appear during the seconds that the app starts the connection process, but it always gives a “timeout” error.

I think I have the same problem as seen in this YouTube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PYZQyYCJik

It says that it is solved by installing the app on Android 13, but I don’t have it. The app should work on older versions of Android.

What can I do?

Hi @candel, We have reviewed the video, and on the LED screen of the AC2A, we noticed that the Bluetooth icon lights up in the settings page but does not remain lit when returning to the standby home screen. This is normal.
The Bluetooth icon will only light up when the mobile app successfully connects to the AC2A via Bluetooth.
Since the AC2A has Bluetooth enabled, could you please confirm that the phone also has Bluetooth turned on and is close to the AC2A?
Please troubleshoot step by step.

  1. Try logging out of the account and connecting via Bluetooth in offline mode. Does this help?
  2. Attempt to unbind this AC2A and then reconnect it. Is there any effect?
  3. Uninstall the app and then reinstall it. Is it useful?

Thank you for clarifying that it is normal for the Bluetooth icon to not remain illuminated on the Home screen, I think this is confusing for many other users (An improvement for future versions would be to have 2 Bluetooth icons, one that indicates when Bluetooth is activated and another for when it is connected to the mobile)

But it is not true that it only lights up when there is a successful connection, because for me the icon lights up when I START the pairing process in the Bluetti app, that is, when I select the serial number in the list of devices that the Bluetti app detects, but the connection never ends successfully and the icon stops lighting up. I confirm that both devices have Bluetooth activated and are next to each other.

  1. The first process I tried was the offline mode and the connection did not work, then I registered and it did not work either.
  2. It was never linked by Bluetooth, it is the first time I am trying the Bluetooth connection of the AC2A.
  3. I have already tried it without positive results, can I get old versions of the app to test them?
Do you confirm that the app should work from Android 7 as indicated in the official description or only from Android 13 as indicated in the video?

Hi @candel, Thank you for the update; we would like to gather more information.
Could you please provide us with the SN code of your AC2A? Has the app displayed any error messages indicating a connection failure? It would be helpful if you could provide a screen recording video.

Hi, What is the purpose of knowing the serial number?
The popup messages that the app displays after a few seconds, in which it is supposed to be trying to connect to the AC2A (since the Bluetooth icon on the Home screen does light up for a few seconds), are:
Offline mode: “Connection timeout”
Online mode: “AC2A2444********* not found. Please make sure you have enabled Bluetooth on your phone and BLUETTI device and keep your phone close to the device.”

Can you tell me if it should work on Android 7 or does it have to be at least Android 13? Thanks

@candel you might need to have Location turned on as well as Bluetooth on your Android device.

Yes, of course, if the location service was not activated, the app would not allow the devices scan to begin nor would it initiate pairing.
.
I’m still waiting to see if anyone knows for sure what the minimum Android version is for Bluetooth to work correctly in the app…

Hi @candel, We do recommend that you upgrade your phone’s operating system first. The minimum system we support is Android 8.0 and above. Android 7.0 is indeed too low. Could you contact your phone store to help upgrade the operating system?
Please let us know if this helps.
We thank @Erebus for the solution.

By the way, please note that if you need my assistance, please @BLUETTI_CARE, otherwise, I might not see your message and be able to help you promptly.

I can’t do that now, but it would have saved me a lot of testing and time if Google Play had put 8.0 and not 7.0
I don’t think it will work with Android 8.0 anyway because the youtube user had Android 10 and it didn’t work either (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1PYZQyYCJik)
Customer service completely ignored the problem that he reported 7 months ago: “I did let them know that I figured out the problem, so hopefully they will fix it.”

Hi @candel, Thank you for the reminder; we have urged the app department to update the information on the Google Play page. We believe they can complete this promptly to avoid misleading other customers.
However, the issue reported by the YouTube user cannot certificate that Android 10 does not support Bluetooth connectivity.
There are many reasons for Bluetooth connection failures, such as poor phone signal, excessive distance, or the app not being updated to the latest version, among others. Each case needs to be analyzed individually.

We have also reconfirmed with the app department, and they informed me that Android 8 and above is the recommended phone system, but this does not mean that Android 7 cannot connect via Bluetooth.
We would like to troubleshoot the issue, so we need the SN code and current firmware version of your AC2A. We will attempt to resolve the problem by pushing a new firmware. If you are concerned about privacy, you can contact us via private message.
