For an iPhone, Open the device on the app, tap the hexagon in the upper right hand corner of the screen, and scroll to the bottom on the page.
Tap “unbind” to deselect the unit from your phone.
New owner would pair the device in the same manner.
You could also conduct a factory reset, but that may require a reflash of firmware updates.
