Hi all,
US IRS tax form 5695 Residential Energy Credits instructions indicate:
Manufacturer’s certification.
For purposes of taking the credit, you can rely on the manufacturer’s certification, in writing, that a product is qualifying property for the credit. Don’t attach the certification to your return. Keep it for your records.
This would be relevant for an installation of Apex300 with an expansion battery, for example, to reach the required storage capacity for the credit, under “Qualified battery storage technology”.
I’ve searched, unsuccessfully, for such a Bluetti manufacturer’s certification on this topic.
Can anyone point me to or provide the certification?
Thanks - I agree 3,000 wh is the technical requirement for the credit for battery storage technology.
Qualified battery storage technology costs.
Qualified battery storage technology costs are costs for battery storage technology that is installed in connection with your home located in the United States and has a capacity of at least 3 kilowatt hours.
(from Instructions for Form 5695 (2025) | Internal Revenue Service)
Further in the instructions for that section, we see:
Manufacturer’s certification.
For purposes of taking the credit, you can rely on the manufacturer’s certification, in writing, that a product is qualifying property for the credit. Don’t attach the certification to your return. Keep it for your records.
So I’m trying to get the (Bluetti) manufacturer’s certification. Thanks!
After carefully reviewing your request with the relevant team, we have been informed that the tax exemption promotion ended at the end of last year. As a result, we are unable to provide the manufacturer documents you requested. We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
True, the program concluded in 2025, but we may still need the manufacturer certification now and in the future per the tax form instructions.
@BLUETTI_CARE, can you assist to provide the needed documentation?
Hi @K1000, we don’t have much information on this issue, as very few users have such a request.
If you need it, we can provide safety certifications or Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) as an alternative. Would this be helpful?
No we need something which states that an Apex300 plus one or more expansion batteries exceed 3 kWh capacity. Other manufacturers have made these downloadable on their websites, maybe you can download and take a look?
Here is an Example, its just a simple legal blurb. I don’t have one from Bluetti either, I am relying on the installers receipt, bill of sale, specifications list, and owners manual as proof in the small chance of an audit. I wouldn’t let the lack of current documentation prevent you from claiming the deduction.
Hi @K1000, thank you for the update. We have passed your feedback along to the technical team and will strive to provide users with as much documentation support as possible.
Thanks to @CurtisNolting76 for your concern and input on this matter.
Hi @BLUETTI_CARE and all, as a curiosity, I contacted a competitor to see if they had such documentation available. Within just a few hours, I received this certification response (attached, hopefully). Impressive!
This is a great example of what we are requesting. Thanks. Manufacturer’s Certification-V4 updated signed.pdf (200.2 KB)
Hi @K1000, thank you for your help!
We have already forwarded this to the technical team and will provide an update here once we receive their response.
