PV200 solar panel extension cords

Hello,

I bought the ac500-300S with 2 200 PVD solar panels. I am trying to find an extension cord that is safe. I can’t figure out the information I need for the online calculators (Watts, volts, etc).

I purchased a 60 Feet 10AWG Solar Extension Cable with Female and Male Connector, Twin Wire Solar Panel Wire Adapter for Home, Shop and RV Solar Panels (60FT Red + 60FT Black). I have one 200W solar panel connected and am getting from 10 - 60% on a very hot sunny day.

I have no idea if this wire is safe or the right size. It isn’t getting hot on the inverter end (of course it’s scorching in the sun - 95 outside). Can someone tell me if this is a good size wire? Lengthwise, I could probably make 30 or 50 feet work.

Morning @KathRose welcome to the group.

The way I work it is -
4mm cable for up to 30m
6mm cable for longer runs.

If you run the 4mm cable over longer runs its will lose power.

The most important thing you can do when transmitting the power over distance is to connect the panels in series which raises the voltage allowing for more efficient transfer over a longer distance. (smaller diameter of wire needed)
