Hi all - I just discovered the bluetooth security vulnerability in a AC70 I purchased back in march - of curse too late to return it. I was planning to use the AC70 to run a couple of freezers as a UPS, but that bluetooth 5.1 connection it has that you seemingly can’t turn off or secure has quite a long range! (working as far as across the street from my house and freezers / AC are in the basement). Could I use something like an in-line surge protector or cheap power conditioner to cut off connection to the freezer should the unthinkable happen and someone turn on PowerLifting mode maliciously on the AC70? I wouldn’ want to end up with two destroyed chest freezers…
Wouldn’t they also have to log on to your Bluetti app account to which your machine is bound to to access and control your AC70?
It doesn’t seem so :( binding a machine to a bluetti account only allows for firmware upgrades. I can use the bluetti app on a different phone not logged into my bluetti account to control the machine as well… Hoping Bluetti can close this gap as I don’t think you can turn off bluetooth on the AC70 as you can on the AC200L
I don’t know how to test this, but wouldn’t “power lifting” mode only have any effect when the load goes above the native inverter capability? I don’t believe it always runs the load with a reduced voltage level.
No idea… what I do know though is that power lifting lowers the voltage so it can supply greater wattage and is good for resistive loads only… my poor chest freezers would pobably not likethat very much at all
You are correct, power lifting only functions when the load exceeds the inverter limits
Ah, so from this I an infer that my two chest freezers (if both are on, are consuming roughly 330 wats) won’t be effect if someone turns on power lifting remotely because the draw on the inverter isn’t even close to that 1kw limit… Awesome :) I’m glad to know that, and thanks folks for chiming in! Would still love to be able to turn the bluetooth off though when not using :) perhaps an opportunity for a future FW upgrade?
@Shuteye For AC70, Bluetooth can be turned off by pressing the button. Please review the steps: Press and hold AC+DC until the frequency flashes to enter the setting mode, press DC to switch, press AC to select.
P01-Frequency, 50Hz/60Hz
P03-Charging mode, Silent/Turbo
P04-Constant power mode switch
P05-ECO mode
P06-Bluetooth
Finally, long press the AC+DC to save the setting.
Are you certian your Bluetooth can reach that far. My AC500 Bluetooth doesn’t reach 20 feet.
Although, I have been across town and my app read Bluetooth however, I was receiving on the internet. Which of course is password protected.
I hope you enjoy your Bluetti and get years of use from it.
