Positioning of Charger 1

Hi, Can I fit the Bluetti Charger 1 in my engine bay of my campervan and run output via solar cable to the charger position 5m away. Because a pair of solar cables are easier to run ?

Thank you for your help
Malcolm

Definitely NOT,
The Charger 1 is rated IP20.

IP20 is an Ingress Protection (IP) rating that indicates a product’s protection against solid objects and liquids. Specifically, it means the product is protected against solid objects larger than 12.5mm (like fingers or tools) but offers no protection against water or moisture.

Read the Requirements on page 7 of the user manual. Also check instruction 5.1 Installation Requirements on page 11. Look at the install diag. on page 15.

Vehicle mounting is in cabin or trunk. (Boot).

Hi @Surfcornwall

welcome to the forum and thanks for your question!

If i would be you, i woudnt install it in the engine bay. A combustion engine produce a lot of heat. When traveling longer, it can actually get quite hot under the hood.

The Charger 1 do have a fan, but cooling the unit is more or less useless when the intake air is really hot.

Also as @Mandp mentioned, the IP Rating could be a issue with water, moisture and dirt in general.

greetings
Erik
