What I thought was a Bluetooth Hardware problem on my newest (2025-July-02) EB3A turned out to be caused by the Bluetti app … now resolved

I have not been using this EB3A since I bought it a month ago because I thought it had a defective Bluetooth function and expected to get it replaced.

FYI:
I have discovered a problem with the Bluetti app running on a Samsung SM-T590 Tablet OS Version T590XXU3CVG5 / T59000XM3UF1 / patch level 2022–June-01. It was causing Communication problems.

@BLUETTI

Now that I can actually see on the app what it is doing, it has strange behaviour related to DC output and SOC that I will have to figure out (DC out = 110W +/- 5 with Grid Input = 155W +/- 5 shows SOC starting at 100% >> 90% after 45 minutes >> 17% after 50 minutes then I did a shutdown a minute later when it read 9% … then removed DC output connection, power on & SOC = 9% increasing 100% with 90 seconds) … I plan to attempt to re-calibrate the battery first to see if this strange behaviour stops.

Anybody else seen this kind of behaviour? If yes, did you find the cause? and the fix?

Hi @BPR, We believe that pushing the new firmware may help fix the issue.
Now I have applied to upgrade your system to our IT department. They will push the latest version of firmware to your unit in 24 hours.
Please upgrade the firmware tomorrow. Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please recalibrate after the upgrade.
If it doesn’t work, please contact us to arrange for warranty service.

Haven’t seen a firmware upgrade yet … will keep waiting.

Well … I was wrong, confused about details of Bluetooth failure. When it didn’t work at all immediately after receiving it I just left it powered off & waited for a response to my support request … didn’t try to use it since July 4 until Aug 3.

Now after paying more attention to symptoms.

Now it looks like two different problems

  1. SOC / DC output display probably incorrect?
  2. Bluetooth failure most recent symptoms
    a) initial connect after power on works if Tablet is less than 40cm from EB3A
    b) will continue working upto about 2 meters distance once connected
    c) will NOT connect if distance between Tablet & EB3A is greater than 2 meters
    d) not sure when the working connection fails … but it appears to be 2><4 meters
    e) I confused symptom because when it failed to connect while I was sitting at my desk (2.5 M)
I would carry tablet with me to Physically power cycle EB3A and reconnect with Tablet only
few cm away from EB3A and it would connect and usually keep working while at my desk

Now looks like it might just be a weak Bluetooth signal from this particular EB3A … so it is still usable, but not at the same distance as my othe Bluetti devices (16 M for EL200V2).

There is a chance that a firmware update will fix the SOC / Output display error … will wait for firmware update to find out.

Have you tried using a different device i.e. Mobile phone in place of the tablet. I’m at my desk and can control an Elite 100 v2 approx. 5M (15’) away with an electric recliner chair in between me and the E100. I also have an AC70 permanently connected to my WiFi router in the Walk in Robe around 10M (30’) away with 4 walls in between it and the phone with no issue. (Steel frame house)
I have several phones and tablets, if you also have others, install the App and try them. If the problem occurs with all devices, then it’s probably the Bluetti, if it’s better or resolves the issue, it’s the Tablet. Process of elimination, lol.
Re display, SOC etc, try doing a SOC reset, by dropping the battery to zero, with a load, until the unit switches off. Then do a full recharge via grid input, without any loads until it stops charging. Sometimes, but rarely, you may need to do this a couple of times.

re: tried other devices, Yes.
Have done this to eliminate possibility that problem is caused by Tablet. Tablet is able to use Bluetooth communication with 8 other Bluetti devices … from 2 to 16 meters away with multiple walls and a floor between source & sink
re: SOC reset (calibration?) was planning to do this today but Bluetti says another update is being pushed to this device & I should do this after installing the soon to arrive update … so, I wait for now.
