One valid reason to avoid the knockoff brands is unregulated 12V. You cannot reliably run a 12V compressor fridge (like a Dometic/Iceco/BougeRV). The other reason is they bait you into a cheap price but then make you pay the return shipping if you don’t like it, which is counter-productive, not to mention fitting the potential tariff if you live in the U.S., which alone should stray you.
As far as mainstream competitors (Bluetti vs Ecoflow vs Jackery etc) they are all innovative forward with consistent product release cycles. They all eventually overlap in technologies as they all follow the same marketing trends. Faster charging, smart app integration, upgraded Lifepo4 batteries, modularity battery packs, etc etc. Ecoflow does something, Bluetti counters. There’s not much difference. If anything they are marketing-centric first. You are bombarded more so by sales pitches than anything else. They use SEO to push their listings to the top. Pay influencers to shill products, etc. You have to do your research to be fair. But what you should ABSOLUTELY avoid is the cheap knockoffs.
One tip I have for you is to use the Wayback Machine to hunt for historical prices of product releases. AC200PL was $1999 in April 2024. In June and October 2025 it was $1,099. Now its $1,199, so it’s actually gone UP $100 since last year. A common trend I see with Bluetti is the lowest possible price point is almost ALWAYS near Amazon Prime Day for some reason. Rarely is the cheapest price on Black Friday, Christmas, or even funny enough “Earth Day”.
