I have an AC500 set up to power the essential functions of my home. I am on Octopus Agile and, at times, receive a text to tell me that electricity will be free in a certain time window.
I would like to be able to use the app to tell my AC500 to go off-grid and use the battery, so it will be near empty when the free period starts and I can then tell it to charge.
I don’t want to set certain times because these discounts are sporadic. I’d just like to push a button to tell it to start running the house off the batteries, and push it again to tell it to go on-grid and charge again.
If I turn “Grid charge” off, all it does is to stop charging, but it doesn’t actually start powering the house from the batteries.
I have the AC500 and PV Priority might be the closest you can get to that. You set a battery % and it will run off-grid until it reaches that %, then starts drawing grid power.
.
What you can do through the APP is change the % up or down as needed to catch the “Free” window. Set the % low like 10% so it’s using battery power, then when your Octopus Agile says “Free” then use the APP to raise the % up to start grid power and start charging the batteries, even to 100%
