Lightning protection

I am using EP760 and plan to connect 3 strings of 4 panels (Voc=50V) at 620W to it.

Usually, each string is equipped with a circuit breaker and a surge protection module as insurance against lightning strikes or thunderstorm effects.

The Bluetti documentation does not specify any requirements for PV circuit protection. While I do not see the need for a circuit breaker (it is already included in the device), I have doubts about the surge protection module.

I would like to hear your opinion on this matter.

I would also like to request access to the Pro features of the device — they may be necessary, as I am in Ukraine and the winter is not expected to be easy.

Thank you!

Earthing/Grounding your panels is a good start. Check Youtube, plenty of good info on how to…

Our technical team recommends installing a circuit breaker and surge protection module in the system to prevent lightning strikes from affecting the equipment. While the machine is already equipped with protection modules and circuit breakers internally, adding these devices externally for the solar panels allows for individual control, achieving a quick disconnection and isolation effect.

After installation, please be sure to confirm the grounding and check for any short circuit issues to ensure the safety and stability of the system.

Thank you for your wonderful product, which allows us to have electricity 24 hours a day, despite all the efforts of the russian fascists to deprive us of this opportunity. Bluetti products have made it easier for many families in Ukraine to get through this difficult period.

There is a small problem with the EP760 — when the power goes out, it takes quite a long time to switch over — less than a second, of course, but nevertheless, the devices have time to shut down. The most delicate part of my electronics is protected by an additional Bluetti AC180, but I think this problem should not exist in principle.

Today I turned off “Grid Self-adaptation” — maybe that will help. But it would be great if you could check the settings remotely.

What additional information do you need from me? The switching speed is definitely much higher than 10 ms.

Thank you and best wishes for the New Year!

PS: I installed solar panels with all the necessary wiring in the form of circuit breakers and SPDs. But I haven’t connected them yet, as I’m waiting for a technician to do the internal wiring neatly.

Hello, please try to place the switch on the battery side to ensure a 10ms switching time. Also, please upgrade the APP and firmware to the latest versions.
