Just got my Apex300 B300k and 2 x B300 system set up, upgrading from a AC300
One thing that I noticed is that I cannot set the grid input current to anything less than 10A on the Apex 300 (the range is 10A-50A), where the AC300 was running at 6A before. I need to set the grid input to lower as the wiring on this circuit can only support limited capacity as there are other loads on it. My EV’s inverter can only support 800W so I can only run 6A from that as well. Is there a way I can set a grid input current to anything less than 10A? The AC300 allows for it, can the Apex 300 also to?
That’s what I thought too! Things must have changed since Hobotech reviewed it.
I eventually found a way, but is super hidden.
If you go to adv, max grid input current, that menu only allows you to adjust between 10-50A, even in pro mode. If you want to go lower than 10A, then you have to go back to the settings menu → charging mode then select “custom” at the bottom. This will enable an extra mode which allows you to set between 1 to whatever setting you set in the max grid input current.
Why does it go up to 50A? I am in the UK (240V) but wouldn’t that be 120V x 50 = 6000 watts which is not possible so why does the slider go that high? Would be more sensible to have 3 - 30A range in the main menu.
Yes, I am able to adjust the charge rate using the app. However, the function is not easy to find.
You cannot adjust it on Setting>Adv>Max grid input. If you go there, the range is 10-50A. You must instead go to Setting>Charge Mode and then click on the small “custom” text on the bottom middle, which then opens the custom charge option, there you can adjust it from 1-10A. My suggestion would be to allow it to be adjusted from 1-50A on the Setting>Adv>Max Grid Input menu. Also, make the custom charge option visible by default on the charging mode selection along side silent/standard/turbo
The 50A max is for US/CA market or other markets where the voltage is 110-120V. I would assume the max grid charge current is less in EU or other 220-240V markets
I’m really struggling with this at the moment, I’ve found the custom settings and reduced the charging input, but it seems to make no difference. I’m trying to limit the grid input current to less than 7amps, the pro mode won’t let me go below 10amps, so done as above and reduced grid charging current to 7amps but it still trips the incoming supply as it still goes to 10amps. It seems you can only limit grid charging current and not grid input current which is really annoying and making it useless for my application, as it keeps tripping the incoming supply from my solar mains system. Any extra pointers would be greatly appreciated, thanks.
Hi thanks for that, I can set that up no problem however it still takes from the grid 10amps for the input current wherever I’m using something higher than 7amps - I’m guessing that setting is just to reduce charging current only, I can reduce that down to 1amps no problem. However, it’s no good for me as wherever I use the unit it ramps the input current to 10amps as hopefully you can see on the image below, it’s the input current that I need to reduce…
Hello, to address this issue, you will need to upgrade the firmware and the app. The new version of the app is generally released at the end of each month.
Interesting, I didn’t test it while it was outputting AC at high power. I always thought that the charging power limit was the same as the max grid input limit. BLUETTI, if that’s the case, can we set the max grid input to less than 10A in the pro mode? If this can work with no grid at all, then it should work with some but less grid right? Some of us have weak AC sources and would need to limit grid input to something less, like 6-7A. My old AC300 can do that.
