My EB3A died because the battery ran too low and the BMS has it locked up. The unit will display 100% charged and then die, and will not accept wall charging, car charging, or solar charging. It’s out of warranty and Bluetti service was responsive, but non-helpful. I can disassemble the unit and get the battery pack out if needed. My question is: How do I direct charge the battery and wake it back up and reset the BMS? How and where do I connect positive and negative, and what type of charger do I use? Thanks!
Hi, you might try PV or AC charging for a while to see if it activates.
2. If the ambient temperature is low, try placing the device in a warm place for three hours and preheating it with a hot air blower or electric stove facing the EB3A’s vents before turning it on to see if it can power on.
If I was able to make a direct connection to the XT60 connector going to the battery and charge with my PV panel, would that bypass the BMS system?
Welcome to the forum @Mac82 ! The eb3a doesn’t use a xt60 as the solar input. It’s a dc7909 barrel plug but regardless, what the team is saying is that sometimes if the battery SOC is too low, it will need a sorta “jump start” to get it going. This can usually be done by leaving a DC input source (PV or car charging plug) connected to the unit for a couple hours. I recommend using the car ciggy plug option as that source can be a little more constant and consistent. It can take a couple hours before the bluetti will start registering the input but that will bring the actual battery percentage high enough for the unit to then be able to be charged with either AC or DC/PV to complete the charging process. I recommend leaving it plugged into and charging via a 12v ciggy plug for a couple hours, then transfer to a wall AC plug, and letting it go until it shows 100% and the input wattage shows 0 watts. Then I would do a couple complete 100% - 0% - 100% cycles with a constant source ( office fan works great for constant discharge!) to get the internal BMS back in action and re-calibrated. Hope this helps but holler if ya need anything!!
I’ve tried all of that. A direct connection to the exposed battery is an XT60 connector. I can purchase a male x male connector in order to hook it up to my solar charger. Will this bypass the BMS and get me enough charge into the battery to reassemble everything and then complete the procedures you described?
Hello, you cannot do this, it is a security risk.
If you know it can’t be done this way, then how do you do it? It is a classified national security matter? Or is it better to keep someone in the dark and force them to buy another unit? —> (This part ain’t happening). If nobody knows, then please just say nobody knows, it’s never been done in the history of the world, and I’ll plan on being the first one to figure it out.
