FYI - EB200P PV Charging - Parallel vs Series

I’ve had this setup for around 7 months along with two 415W solar panels charging it. I’ve always had the solar panels in series, giving me voltage in (according to the unit) up to 65V, and on a good day, up to 915W input (again, according to the unit).

That main specs on the solar panels are as follows:

  • Voc of 37.42V
  • Isc of 13.90A

I thought I’d try putting these two solar panels in parallel to see if I can get similar PV output. It turns out, the EB200P does have a hard limit of 15A PV input, because I can only seem to get up to 420W into the unit.

Before doing the above experiment, I did reach out to Customer Support to see whether there was any wiggle room in getting extra amps into the EB200P but that turns out to be a no. The in-built MPPT limits the amount of amps going in, with the only thing one needs to really be concerned about is the PV voltage input (which was again confirmed by Customer Support).

Food for thought…
