Perhaps it is possible to implement a controlled speed instead of on-off as with a notebook.
So a slow start at the temperature that now has the start set point and faster if the temperature still rises.

yes it is possible to control the fan with differing operating speeds

Can you tell us a bit more about how this can be arranged.
That is a feature that is designed into the firmware and is not user adjustable.
It would be nice if the speed of the fan could be made dependent on temperature.
