We are intending to camp travel for the first time with our AC200MAX with our tow 2019 F-150. We have a small Dometic fridge that with the AC200MAX will be in the back seat area. I plan (hope) to run the fridge from the AC200MAX and at the same time charge the AC200MAX from the truck.
I believe I have two options; cigarette lighter DC port or the F-150 AC inverter port.
Problems; the DC port delivers a very low charge and the inverter plug is 400w limited.
I would like to use the larger inverter charger but the AC200MAX monitor reads I the draw is a bit over 400w, usually less than about 450w.
So…the question is if I use the inverter plug will I damage the F-150 and/or the AC200MAX?
Hello,
T500 adapters do not have 100% efficiency, I measured mine at 90%. This means that when you see 450W on the screen of your AC200max (“adaptor”) it actually consumes 450W/90% = 500W. That’s a lot for me for your inverter…(400W +25%). I don’t know the inverter on your Ford F-150, I don’t know if you’re going to blow a fuse or if the F-150 inverter going to go into safety. I won’t try either.
In any case it is the F150 at worst which will have a problem, the AC200max risks nothing.
Ideally you need to find an alternative AC-DC adapter 300W maximum (58V) with a DC7909 connector, but be careful not to take a low-end product, because it charges for a long time, and if the connector is of poor quality, it can heat the connector of the AC200max
