Errorcode 018 on EB55

Hi,
I have an “older” EB55 from 2021/22, I believe. It was stored in an cool an dry area for a few months. When I started it a few days ago it has a charge of 40%. So I wanted to charge it and it charged with just 1 W with a 12V Car charger and it didn’t charge with the Bluetti Charger. When I press all 3 buttons I get U150 and E018. What does E018 means? Is it a protection mode? Can I reset it?
Thanks
Martin

E018= Over-voltage protection (PV output) - Disconnect solar charging cable, re-start the machine, re-insert the cable

You said “with a 12V car charger”. 3rd party or Bluetti? If its for example a 200W charger that’s rated at 40V and 5A its 200W but its 40V, which is 12V more than your power station supports.

12V Charger is the 12V Car-Adapter with the MC4 connector that was included with the EB55.
The E018 also comes when I use the Bluetti wall adapter.

Cold temps can have effect on the open circuit voltage. If the unit was VERY COLD, you may need to let it warm up. How cold was the unit? If so let it warm up, then plug in charging cable and just leave it in, it may eventually auto correct itself when it detects the voltage is good again.

Hi @railrun, We deeply care about the issue you encountered.
Yes, please follow @sealy1986’s analysis to ensure the DC input voltage is correct. Additionally, check whether the ambient temperature is appropriate. Hope this helps.

So I have checked the supply and cable, 12V are present, so it is working.
The room temperature is 20 °C, so it is ambient. I believe it is a hardware fault.

Agreed, though sadly your unit is no longer under warranty as its more than 2 years old. The question now becomes does Bluetti still provide repair for this model any longer and if so is it worth the investment dollars over getting a AC70 or something similar which has more much improved quality. Note I do own a EB70S and had to have mine reserviced for a battery that wouldn’t calibrate. EB line has had a number of complaints sadly.

Based on what I researched the “U150” portion of the error in relation to an inverter fault, which can be caused by an overload or a short circuit.

I think U150 is more a V150, like a firmware version.
So time to take it apart and find the faulty IC or cap/resistor.

So to give here an update:

Yes, it is working again. If you have the skills and knowledge (and sparetime) it’s possible to repair. Disclaimer: If you have no idea, don’t do it.
So I have dissassembled the EB55. First of all, disconnect the battery from the power board (the huge XT90 connector). Then I have measured all mosfets and the power-in part. I had realised, I not only have E018, but also E017.
So at the DC-Input the P-Mosfet Q42 (JMTG080P03A) showed a very low forward-voltage (<0.1V) between gate and source. So I removed Q42 and connected the PV-input and now no E017 shows up. But still no power was flowing in. So I removed the mainboard from the front plate. On the other side is a fuse (marking 30, could be a C1H30 fuse => 30A@32V) and this was broken. Replaced it with a new fuse, connected it to PV and is now working again. Thanks for reading ;)
