EP760 & SolarEdge - My Experience

My EP760 installed in February 2026 consists of 4 x B500 battery modules for total storage capacity of 19.84kWh. It is grid connected and integrated into an existing installation of solar from 2018. There is 6.48kw worth of solar panels (x24) serviced by a SolarEdge HD5000 (5kw) inverter. There are no solar panels connected directly to the EP760 PV ports. Each of the existing solar panels has a SolarEdge P370 optimizer which is required for connection to the SolarEdge inverter. It would be costly to move the panels from SolarEdge to EP760 as it would require removing 24 optimizers and new DC cable runs. My goal was to keep my existing SolarEdge setup (which is still fully functional and under warranty) and make no changes to anything on the SolarEdge side to accommodate the EP760. I will get some new solar panels installed and connected to the EP760 PV ports to supplement the SolarEdge and allow battery charging to continue if the grid is down.

How is it AC coupled ?
.
A Bluetti EP760 Inverter Energy Meter needs to be installed into the switchboard. My Bluetti meter was wired into a 6A circuit breaker. The Bluetti meter is connected by RS485 cable to the COM port of the EP760. A Current Transformer (CT) cable and clamp is attached to the Bluetti meter which is then clamped to the AC live and neutral wires between the SolarEdge HD5000 inverter and the SolarEdge Import/Export Meter (on grid side). The current direction arrow of the CT points from HD5000 towards grid. This allows EP760 to know how much solar the HD5000 is producing and sending into AC side.
.
Another CT is connected at one end to the EP760 “CT” port and other end is clamped to the AC live and neutral wires between the EP760 grid port just behind the grid main breaker. The current direction arrow of this CT points toward the grid. This CT helps EP760 know amount of power being imported/exported to/from the grid.
.
Exporting
.
I have my EP760 configure working mode as Time of Use with a charge/discharge schedule that I frequently adjust depending on weather, solar production and other things. In this mode, backed up loads source power first from PV (if available), then grid import if the time falls in an Off-Peak range, or from battery if the time falls within a Peak period (discharge time).
.
If the battery is 100% SOC and the SolarEdge is still producing power, any excess after loads (protected and unprotected) have consumed will be exported by HD5000 to grid. This occurs automatically, it has nothing to do with "Feed to Grid” setting which I have disabled.
.
How does it work in the App ?
.
Because of the meters and CTs, the EP760 is aware when the SolaEdge is exporting and the Bluetti app updates the export counter under Energy Statistics.
.
The app sees the energy produced by SolarEdge as “AC PV” rather than “DC PV”. It knows how much is currently being generated, how much is being used (even by unprotected loads not connected to EP760), how much is being exported by SolarEdge and how much is being imported (for both protected and unprotected loads).
.
When one taps on the “PV” icon in the app it reports the stats under PV4 and type “AC PV”.
.
Because I can see PV production from SolarEdge and daily exported stats, I rarely need to use the SolarEdge app. The only time I now use the SolarEdge app is when checking all panels are still working and inverter status/history, which I check every couple of weeks.

Managing Export Limits
.
My site is export limited to 3kw by the power company. The SolarEdge HD5000 was configured in 2018 to limit export to 3kw.
.
In the EP760 I have Feed into Grid disabled under “Energy Buying/Selling” because I am not trying to sell my battery energy. However, I still needed to be aware that the EP760 will export battery energy to grid when it is performing a rapid battery discharge during the Battery Maintenance procedure.
.
After getting Pro mode enabled by support, I configured “Single-phase Grid Max Discharge Power to 3000w” to match my export limit.
.
During battery maintenance discharge the EP760 will export 3000w minus whatever the SolarEdge HD5000 is exporting. For example if HD5000 is exporting 1kw during battery maintenance the EP760 will export 2kw during discharge. I have run Battery Maintenance once and since install and confirmed the export behavior is working properly.

Tips
.
I will conclude with some tips for any electrician installing an AC coupled EP760.
.

  • Check well before installation day that you have the Bluetti meter needed for AC coupling.
  • Ensure PV Meter is enabled under Pro Mode settings and select the matching Bluetti meter model. Mine was ADL200N-CT.
  • If required by power company, set the Export limit under “Energy Buying/Selling”, even if you are not feeding to grid regularly.
  • Set the correct Country in Advanced Settings —> Authentication Country. Important otherwise you could get voltage warnings.
  • Enable Battery Heating feature if you live in area where temp drops below 15c. Setting was disabled by default.
