Hi all, just wanting to know if there is a way I can set up the ep500pro to use battery power at the ac outlet whilst I’m charging via my generator ie grid. In standard ups mode the ac outlet passes straight through from the grid input but I’m wanting the grid input to be used just for charging the battery whilst the ac out comes only from the battery not using the pass through. In my situation with this set if I have a load kick in the genny will often overload and I have to restart it. Having it set to charge only would be ideal while the ac from the battery can move up or down easily without overloading my generator. Does anyone know how this might be achieved? Thank you!
Maybe I’m not correctly understanding your question correctly because there is no mention of Watts or Amps. However, I’m guessing you are asking about using a small generator that provides less amperage than the EP500P to charge it, while trying to also power your loads from the EP500P with higher Amps (so a net discharge, without overloading your generator). This can be accomplished with using a custom/limited “Max Grid Input Current”; I believe the default is 15A, you may want to lower that for a smaller generator, depending on the size. The load matching from EP500P will allow you to draw more amperage based on your load. If you set Custom UPS mode, you can change the grid charge low and high percentages as well as turn on/off grid charge manually.
This may work as a temporary situation, but you could end up depleting your batteries for running any large amount of time.
