EP500Pro starts to smell bad

Hey everyone,

i use one of my EP500Pro inside my house to power microwave, coffee machine and other devices. Yesterday, i turn on on like normally, making coffee and its starts to smell really bad “electronic”. The unit doesnt show any errors and it turn on fine.

Is there anything i should like for?

Thanks
Erik

Hi Erik,

I don’t have an EP500 myself (only the EP600), but I would first check that the ventilation slots and fans are clear.
It could well be that dust has accumulated there over time and is preventing the electronics from cooling …

(If you want to blow through it with compressed air, be sure to block the fan! Otherwise they will break very quickly, bearing damage due to revving up …)

Greetings
Sigi

Thanks for your answer Sigi

Hi @Selfmadestrom, We deeply value the concerns you’ve raised. Given that the EP500PRO shows no error codes, we believe it may not be the source of the issue.

Thank you, @SigiKa, for suggesting cleaning the ventilation slots—this is indeed a great approach. Additionally, we suspect the smell might be coming from the coffee machine’s high-speed motor. Please check that as well.

If you still need our assistance, don’t hesitate to contact us at any time.

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE

its coming indeed from the EP500Pro. When you get close to the ventilation openings, you can still smell it

sounds like a dead electronic part inside your EP500, I would check it or if you have the chance contact an electrican to have a closer look. Heavy electric smell is not good in such case…

If a small diode or capacitor is dying, the machine can nonetheless working fine, but maybe can crash in a few days or weeks…

just my 2 cents…

Thanks for your addition @BlueTobi

If the unit is new it is normal to have a strong “new electronics” smell. There are many solvents used in the production and they produce a strong smell during the first weeks. My AC300 had this for one or two weeks of use and after that it was completely free of smell.

If it suddenly comes up I would worry because it may be a blown capacitor or other electronic component. It is not normal that, when the new electronics smell is over an unit suddenly gives off a stong foul smell.

Hi @Selfmadestrom, This is indeed very strange and rare.

I have already passed this matter on to the R&D department and will attempt to reproduce the issue.

Thank you, TheQuickFox, for your input. We would like to know if this smell was present from the beginning or if it has occurred recently. How long have you been using the EP500PRO?

Hi @BLUETTI_CARE

the smell just started, after i connect a coffee machine to it. I have two other EP500Pro and i use this EP500Pro many times with this Machine without any issue.

This model is not really old. Maybe a few months.

Hi @Selfmadestrom, It seems that this EP500Pro is unable to power the coffee machine, which may indicate an internal fault.

We recommend scheduling a repair. Please contact customer service for assistance. If you’re unsure how to locate the appropriate customer service email, please send us a private message with your order number.

I appreciate your kind understanding and patience.

@BLUETTI_CARE The EP500Pro have a 3000W Inverter, the Coffee Machine draw about 1500W at max. Shouldnt be a problem. I will look what the dealer say, where i buy it.
