Elite 200 V2 charging using extension cord and charging while discharge

I just recently bought my first ever bluetti power station, the Elite 200 v2, and I currently have it in my vehicle charging my dashcam system via dc.

Is it appropriate to change this particular power station using an extension cord?

If so, does the Elite 200 v2 stay powered on while it is being charged by the extension cord inside the vehicle?

It’s great cause now my dashcam system is not draining my automotive starting battery.

@sacrilegious Are you referring like a power strip when you mention an extension cord? It can be used, but you must ensure that the connection is secure. In case of poor contact, it may lead to abnormal heating.

I mean an extension cord. A regular one. Or are these power stations meant to only be charged with the charging cord that came with the package?

You can charge the Elite 200v2 with an extension cord, just make sure it is properly rated. You can also adjust the amount of grid current accepted by the device. I charge my Elite 200-s (4) at 3 amps (350-375 watts). All of the Elites are on the same 15 amp circuit. A 14 gauge extension cord is rated for 15 amps; a 16 gauge cord for 13 amps.

The longer the cord, and the higher the current, the more important it is to have an adequately sized cord. Is the car in the garage?

what is a elite 200 s? [4]?

do you mean charge the elite 200 v2 with JUST an extension cord or use the charger cord that came with the power station itself, combined with an extension cord?

the power station itself is currently in my vehicle. I don’t have a garage yet.

Elite 200 v2 (times four). Four individual units.

You would extend the stock AC cord with an adequately sized extension cord.

Be cognizant of the temperature of the interior of the vehicle. Inside vehicle temperatures can get quite warm.

Storage and operational temperature ceiling for the Elite 200 v2 is 104F.

4 of those power stations. Wow. That’s 4 grand right there. Expensive!

It’s currently January 2025, so where I’m at i don’t need to worry about the heat just yet, since it’s chilly aka cold where I’m at.

I do worry about peak summer though, June thru August especially and even may thru October. About keeping it in the vehicle with all that summer heat perhaps making it even hotter inside the vehicle.

Hi Folks,

I don’t know where I can start a brand new post, from my mobile phone, so my apologies, but Admin haven’t responded to advise me. Can someone advise please and move this to the correct posting page?

I have a brand new Bluetti Elite 200 V2. I am in the UK (Scotland).

I have two rigid Ecoworthy solar panels, fitted on my log cabin roof, each 120W with 24.5 VOC each.

My Elite 200 is taking in 0% solar, but electrical grid power comes in fine at 100% though.

I disconnected my EcoWorthy panels and connected my foldable Bluetti panels (200W) instead. Again, 0% solar is coming in.

I sent my first brand new Elite 200 v2 back to Bluetti, and so this is my second brand new replacement Elite 200 V2 doing ‘exactly’ the same thing, straight out the box, after updating all new software.

Sleep mode is not on. It operates on standard mode.

Can anyone help? Even on a dull day, it should surely pull in even 1% of solar??

Thanks.

I have two 445 watt bifacial panels which optimised low-light behaviour, hooked up to one of my power stations and on some very dull days I can pull 50-70 watts but on some others it does drop to zero, I’m also in the UK but not as far north as you.

Thanks for replying. Is there any additional piece of equipment I can use that will retain solar power?

I am running cctv inside my log cabin, with a DVR cctv recorder, 4G router, and a monitor all inside, and 4 x PoE cctv cameras outside.

The entire purpose of buying the Elite 200 V2 is that the landlord will not allow us to run power from the main electric grid into the cabin, hence we thought the Elite 200 V2 with solar panels would work. - Obviously not …

As a result, due to zero solar power coming in, my cctv system has been dead the past 3 months.

Thanks.
