Elite 200 Charger 2

Hi - I have an Elite 200 v2 which I have been using in my campervan with the Charger 1. I have just upgraded to the Charger 2 and have just driven for 30 minutes with the app showing a charging input of 650W.

The Charger 2 links to the Elite 200 via an Anderson connector and an XT60 cable 12AWG rated at 45A maximum. After a 30 minute journey I had difficulty removing the XT60 plug from the Elite 200 socket - on inspection the plug had started to melt. Can the Elite 200 / XT60 socket cope with 650W input? Do I need a higher spec input cable or is this just a faulty connector? Anyone had this issue?

The most likely situation is that the XT60 wasn’t inserted firmly enough, and the extra resistance caused enough heat to melt the plastic connector.
Could be a faulty connector causing the same heating issue, so a replacement cable might fix it.
You should also check the voltage that the charger2 is outputting to the elite; if it’s too low (below 32.5v for 650w) then at 650W you might be exceeding the current/amp rating on the dc input of the elite (which is rated for 12v-60v at max 20A).
If the voltage is correct (above 50v ish), and the plug is firmly inserted, then you’re nowhere near the max current rating for any of the parts and you’ve definitely got something faulty; whether it’s the bluetti, or the connectors on your cable, is impossible for someone to tell you remotely. You’ll have to figure that out yourself by testing. But from what you’ve said, the cable itself is probably fine (so long as it’s proper copper and not CCA).

Thanks for your detailed reply. I suspect you are correct. The Charger 2 output is set to 56V so that is not the issue. I used an aftermarket cable with an Anderson connector at one end and an XT60 at the other (it was this XT60 connector which started to melt). I have now replaced this with the supplied Bluetti XT60 cable via MX4 connectors at the other end and will see how this goes.
