I didn’t realize how troublesome this product would be. Recently had to use it when the lights went out for five hours. Still had a 30% charge in the morning … but …
When I went to charge it, it turned itself off. I assumed it was discharged but just misreporting. I plugged it in overnight and readout said 000 input 100% charged and 000 output. As soon as I disconnected form AC input, it died.
I googled it and found a dozen variations of the problem.
I put it on the DC charger overnight with no AC input. Readout was the same, but the unit did turn on and operate for about five minutes. I was able to connect with the mobile app, but not long enough to do any testing except turn the light on and off. Then it died.
I assume it needs to have an update, but how do I do that when I can’t turn it on? Very frustrating.
Hi @karlpalachuk
welcome to the bluetti community forum!
When i understand you right, the unit appears to be 100% but as soon you want to power anything or disconnect the AC Charger it turns off?
To help you as fast as possible, please write down the firmware versions of your EB3A to let @BLUETTI_CARE check for firmware updates.
Otherwise, they also can assist you with a repair or replacement.
How old is your EB3A?
greetings
Erik
Hi @karlpalachuk, We are deeply concerned about the issue you have raised.
The issue lies in the inaccurate SOC of the EB3A, which mistakenly believes it is 100% charged and therefore refuses to continue charging, while in reality, it is over-discharged.
Please plug the EB3A into the AC home grid, and charge until it is 100%.
After that, please turn on the AC and DC output of the EB3A. After 30 minutes to 1 hour, the EB3A will drop from 100% to 99% due to self-consumption.
After the SOC of EB3A drops to 99%, please disconnect EB3A from the home grid to see if the EB3A can be turned on normally. If so please AC charge the EB3A again.
Normally, the EB3A will work well then, and please tell us the EB3A’s SN number, DSP, and ARM version, we will push the new firmware to avoid this problem happen again.
We extend our gratitude to @Selfmadestrom for his suggestion and kind help.
How do I contact @bluetti_care other than posting here?
Here’s the unit info:
Bluetti EB3A
Purchased 2023
SN = EB3A2238002047631
ARM = v2062.03
DSP = v2056.10
Thank you.
I find it hard to believe that it is discharged since I’ve tried every combination of connecting to AC power source and DC power source (AC only for 24 hours, DC only for 24 hours, and both AC and DC for 24 hours).
This morning, I plugged it in to the AC power as suggested and turned it on. I was able to connect to the app long enough to capture version info. After about ten minutes, the unit shut down completely and will not turn on. My experience is that I need to disconnect from household power for several hours before I can turn it on for another 5-10 minutes.
How to I post a new topic? I only see a reply
Hi @Aalhard
welcome to the forum!
On the main page, on the right upper corner is a button for “New Topic”
Hi @karlpalachuk, Sorry for the delayed response; I have had a heavy workload recently.
I have already submitted the situation you described to the engineers, and they suggest upgrading the firmware first.
Now, I have applied to upgrade your firmware.
Our IT department will push the latest firmware to your unit in 24 hours.
Please upgrade the firmware tomorrow. Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please let us know if it does help.
Thats the mobile view of this forum which isnt really optimized for that. I would suggest to write in the App forum or go on a PC/Tablet.
App forum?
I have a loose dc charge jack on eb3a and am trying to locate a replacement
The button finally showed, guess they enabled mobile
Hi @karlpalachuk, We still haven’t gotten your answer, we wonder if this problem is resolved.
Our engineers are very concerned about the issue you encountered.
If troubleshooting doesn’t resolve the issue, please contact customer service to arrange warranty service.
Please feel free to contact us if you need more help.
No this is not resolved.
I cannot keep the device powered up long enough to do anything. It’s a brick.
Same Here,
i found out why this happens (in my case).
When the device turns off it stores the last SOC.
The problem occurs only it was turned off at 100%, you discharge it completely in one row, it is not calibrated, and it turns off completely because BMS turns off. In this case it shows the 100% saved the last time it turns off and you are not able to charge it again. The Battery is disconnected by the BMS and the EB3A “thinks” it is full. If you disconnect the EB3A from power it instantly turns off.
Update:
I found a thread with a possible solution:
Solution (for me):
I opened the device and charge the Battery a little bit with a programmable power supply then i started the eb3a again and it shows 100%, i discharged it to 99% and charged it again via mains. In this case it stays at 99% for a long time, until it’s full. And i had to recalibrate the Battery by discharging and charging.
Another solution:
Disconnect the Battery and connect a power supply with 24V instead, then turn on the Powerstation and it shows 100%, “discharge” it until it shows a value < 100% and turn it off (in the app with the red button or if you turn everything off and the display turns off). Then reconnect the battery, recharge it and recalibrate the battery.
Don’t discharge it in one row if you turned it off at 100% and the battery is not calibrated !!!
To the Software engineers:
Maybe it is possible to so set the soc to 0 and save the value if the Voltage drops under a certain level. Or when it’s dead and reconnect to Mains it checks if the Voltage is in a certain range and set the SOC to 0.
My software Version is:
ARM: v2061.02
DSP: v2052.51
Best regards
As far as I can tell, there’s no actual support for this device. Very disappointing. I guess I’ll try opening it up and playing with it. But I can’t even donate it to the local thrift store because it just doesn’t work. I guess I’ll take it to Batteries+ to recycle. What a horrible experience.
