Hi, I have an EB3A and I think it’s dead/e-waste now because it’s behaving badly.
ARM v2057.11
DSP 2056.10
If I plug it into AC wall power it will charge to 100% but it seems to discharge relatively quickly if I put any sort of real load (like charging a cell phone).
I tried to do the calibration steps. Plugged it into AC power till it reached 100% and then left the LED light on until it discharged, it managed to get to about 52% and then just turned off completely. I couldn’t get the screen to turn back on or connect via bluetooth.
I’ve done this a couple of times with different loads and it just clicks off without warning.
When I plug in the AC power it reports power 96% and 30hrs of charge but this is clearly wrong because if I turn on the in-line LED for a while, it just shuts off completely.
Is the unit dead, is there anything I can do?
Thanks.
Hi @PowerLess, The issue lies in the inaccurate SOC of the EB3A, which mistakenly believes it is 100% charged and therefore refuses to continue charging, while in reality, it is over-discharged.
Please plug the EB3A into the AC home grid and charge until it is 100%.
After that, please turn on the AC and DC outputs of the EB3A. After 30 minutes to 1 hour, the EB3A will drop from 100% to 99% due to self-consumption.
After the SOC of EB3A drops to 99%, please disconnect EB3A from the home grid to see if EB3A can be turned on normally. If so, please AC-charge the EB3A again.
Normally, the EB3A will work well after charging, and please tell us the EB3A’s SN number. We will push the new firmware to avoid this problem from happening again.
Hi! Thank you. I’ll try your instructions right now.
The S/N is EB3A2234001691572
I’ll report back on how it goes!
Okay! Followed your steps and things went okay for a while but then I had new problems.
First, after the final disconnect from AC home power it showed 100% and I used the EB3A to charge my laptop using 35-50 watts. After 50 minutes it was at 86%.
I had to leave the house so an old cell phone charging using the USB ports drawing about 4 to 6 watts.
However, when I got back the unit was off and no button pressed worked. I plugged in the AC home power and it, surprisingly showed 100%. So I disconnected the AC home power and it immediately turned off again.
I removed everything plugged into the EB3A and then I plugged it back into the AC home power. It again showed 100% power with 30hrs remaining but I’m getting 3 error indicators:
- It’s showing SHORT in the bottom left of the screen.
- The DC power indicator is flashing (again, nothing is plugged into the ports; the only thing plugged in is the AC home power).
- The app is reporting Error A026 “DC output current high”
This is surprising to me.
So I unplugged it again and it turned off and no button pushes would turn on the screen.
Then I plugged it back into the AC home power and it’s just showing UPS and no error messages in the app or on screen.
I’m going to assume the battery is fully discharged again and leave it plugged into AC home power for now. Any other ideas?
Hi @PowerLess, Thank you for your detailed feedback, which is very helpful.
Our previous operational suggestion was to connect to the home grid, not load any appliances, then turn on the AC and DC outputs. Allow the EB3A’s battery to self-discharge from 100% to 99%. Did this help?
If so, please disconnect the grid and try to load a device.
Confirm it returns to normal, disconnect the appliance and continue charging it to 100%.
Regarding the A026 “DC output current high” issue, this is not a specific error code. When the error occurs, please long-press the AC and LED buttons on the EB3A simultaneously to find the specific fault code.
If it is ineffective, please contact us via private message and provide your specific order information so that we can arrange warranty service for you.
