EB3A not charging after a long period

I’ve read all the advice on here - but still not working.

EB3A has been kept in the garage over winter it has not been charged or used during this period. Tried firing her back up but can not get it to charge. Display is on but no charge.

I’ve tried DC power lead via solar for 8hrs nothing, and DC car lead nothing (although this has been a hour max), I’ve tried AC but keep getting the relay clicking over. On the app I see that there is power entering the unit but its not registering.

Hi @Si090, For an EB3A that has been over-discharged, car charging is the best solution.
We recommend charging for at least 3 hours. Does that help? If there is no response at all, please check the car charging cable for any issues. If the cable is faulty, you can contact customer service for assistance.
Since the EB3A is unable to power on, it’s not possible to upgrade the firmware at the moment.
If car charging doesn’t help either, we may need to arrange for a warranty service.

Hi. Thanks for the feedback and go to know ref car charging.

It’s does power on btw. I can access see the my unit on the app and have updated the firmware. I don’t know if I have the latest tho. I posed the firmware version in original post. Can you confirm please. Thanks

When the display is freshly at 0%, the SOC is actually around 10% or so because that much of the battery is reserved for the BMS/system. However, even at 10%, the BMS will discharge overtime, especially in colder climates, and it may get to a point of no return. When you plug the car charger into the PV input source it should “jump start” the unit to essentially give it enough juice for the BMS to start working. If you killed it beyond that and the BMS will not wake up, the only option is to take it in for service to repair the battery health to normal again (make sure next time you try to avoid discharging the unit for too long) or if the battery is completely killed beyond the BMS waking up to charge it, you have to no choice but to open the unit up and bypass the BMS and charge it directly from the load side of the battery, bypassing the BMS. You can simply just charge it up enough safely enough until the SOC is at a percentage where the BMS is awaken. Normally you would never do what I just said and is a worst case scenario, as doing so voids your warranty, and it’s only something you do if you are not under warranty. In simplest terms, if your unit is severely discharged and charging it over PV input doesn’t wake up the unit, you have no choice but to bypass the BMS and charge directly to the battery from an external source (that is safe to use obviously).

Hi @Si090, We’re glad to hear the issue has been resolved and that your EB3A can now charge and power on.
We’ve confirmed that your EB3A is already running the latest firmware, so there’s no need to upgrade. Please feel free to continue using it with confidence.
Many thanks to @sealy1986 for the attention and helpful response on this matter.
