EB3A Dead?

I have a EB3A unit that has been fine, but recently I went to check it (having it plugged into an outlet) and discovered it completely unresponsive. No lights, no response to inputs . . . nothing. Any ideas or suggestions on this one?

Hi @HeartlandTechie, We consider that this EB3A has not been used for an extended period, leading to over-discharge, and it can no longer be awakened through AC charging.

In this situation, we recommend using solar charging or car charging to wake up the EB3A. Does this help?

The issue is it has been plugged into the wall - it’s been charging. How would this by over-discharging?

Hi @HeartlandTechie, We believe that you may have left the EB3A unused for an extended period before this, correct?

During this time, the EB3A slowly discharged and entered deep sleep condition. At this point, AC charging is no longer able to wake up the EB3A, and only DC charging can activate it.

This is because AC charging typically requires the battery to have a certain level of remaining power to activate the charging circuit. If the battery voltage drops too low, the AC charger may not recognize the battery or provide enough initial current to start the charging process, making normal charging impossible.

In contrast, DC charging (such as solar charging or car charging) can operate over a wider voltage range and provide a lower initial current, which helps to gradually wake up the battery and slowly increase the voltage to a level where AC charging can be accepted. Therefore, in cases of deep discharge, DC charging becomes a viable option.

No, in fact, my unit was at 100% state of charge whenever I went and plugged it in and left it plugged in on an outlet in my basement. That outlet also supports my Soundsystem downstairs and I don’t have any records of it being off-line. I would say that your unit just died while being plugged into the outlet.

Plugging into DC gave me this screen, it is not dead. Why won’t it wake from AC power when plugged in?

Hi @HeartlandTechie, Regarding the issue of not being able to wake it up with AC charging, we have optimized this with the latest DSP firmware. Please check the Firmware Upgrade page and update it to the latest DSP version, which should help resolve the issue.

When you mentioned that the screen always shows 100% each time you charge with AC, we believe your EB3A’s SOC is inaccurate and needs recalibration. Please use DC charging to perform a complete charge and discharge cycle. This should restore normal operation.
Please follow the steps below to recalibrate it:

  1. Please discharge all the power (charge AC & DC appliances with the power station till it is out of power and turns off automatically);
  2. Please DC charge it, please do not load any device when charging it, and do not interrupt it while in charge.
  3. Once the power is 100% fully charged, turn off the machine, and leave it for 3 hours till it is cool down.
Please let us know if it does help.

Charged to 100% on dc… started a 200 watt load… go to about 83% and then it shut off.

Ok - so after this I went back and let it cool down. I then charged it to 100% on DC input. I was then able to run the unit for over 1 hour and 26 minutes at an average 215 watts or so of load. I’m charging it again now on a combo of AC/DC inputs. I will follow up again with the results.

@BLUETTI_CARE same issue EB3A no longer working. No response. Its dead. I used this last week and it worked fine however now it is not working at all

Hi @roseannerae, We’d like to confirm whether your EB3A is no longer able to charge.
If you’re using AC charging, could you also try DC charging? Slow car charging, in particular, can be helpful for waking up a deeply discharged battery.

Once your EB3A is able to charge and power on normally, we can proceed with a firmware upgrade to further optimize battery performance.
