Recently, my EB3A was bricked a couple of times. After google the internet (and of cause some are from the BLUETTI community), found some tips to recover it before putting it to the junk yard. I would like to put down my experience for other EB3A user who might get into the same situation, and request BLUETTI to generate a “proper” fix (I can see there are firmware update everywhere).
Here below is my summarized experience on my EB3A:
If it is undercharged (or over discharged) it will shutdown itself.
To recover:
1.) remove all cables from EB3A.
2.) plug in DC input (12V), it will turn on, sometimes not, never mind, go to next step.
3.) plug in AC input, it sure will turn on, and shows 100% charged, input 0%, output 0%.
4.) wait, it might take a long time, until input shows 200+%, indicates it is charging.
5.) wait again, (still showing 100% charged), until input shows 0%, it is fully charged.
6.) the bricked EB3A is recovered.
Issue: fix the 100% charged “error”, as it is very misleading in this situation. If not showing 0%, at least something 10% or 20%, it is more understandable in diagnosing.
One more issue found, LED can’t be controlled from BLUETTI apps, and yet, if I press the button it shows the correct status in the apps.
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for sharing; it seems you have compiled some solutions for handling over-discharge in the EB3A.
We recommend that customers charge their devices regularly and avoid long periods of inactivity, as this is crucial for battery maintenance.
Here are some suggestions for storing the unit.
Never store the battery empty, even for only a few days. LiFePO4 batteries might be unrecoverable if stored empty.
Storage temperature: 0-40℃. Don’t store the battery in a humid environment. Keep it away from fire as well.
The optimal state of charge for long-term storage is 40-60%.
The battery will slowly self-discharge over time. The battery should be recharged every 3-6 months.
Don’t store the battery on its side. Keep it up straight.
Don’t stack things on top of the unit. Don’t block the fans
When the device cannot power on due to over-discharge, we suggest using a slow 12V car charger to continuously charge and wake up the deeply sleeping battery.
If you still need assistance, please feel free to contact our customer service team at any time.
As for the issue with turning on the light via the app, our app department has already identified this problem and will release a new version on March 14th. Please upgrade and test again after that.
Hi @BLUETTI_CARE, thanks for the update. It is nice to hear there will be an update for the LED issue. How about the 100% charged issue? Will it be fixed, or it is “AS IS” in the case of over-discharged for EB3A?
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
I appreciate your kind understanding and patience.
Regarding the issue of excessive discharge with the EB3A, please refer to the previous comment and use a car charger to wake up the battery. Additionally, please take care of the unit to avoid long periods of inactivity.
If you’re still not satisfied with the performance of the EB3A, feel free to contact customer support for further assistance.
Hi @BLUETTI_CARE , the problem of not able to control the light on/off on EB3A through apps is gone, or becoming normal. The problem of showing 100% charged when bricked after over-discharged (we just have a power outage for many hours), is still there. I know how to turn it on by putting both DC and AC cable in, still showing 100% charged, but not charging. It takes a long time (more than half an hour, I didn’t count) to begin charging by looking into the input, still showing 100% charged, or 99% when I plug in my device. Any way it’s back to “normal”. Just the showing of 100% charged is misleading (actually it is zero.)
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for your update.
The issue lies in the inaccurate SOC of the EB3A, which mistakenly believes it is 100% charged and therefore refuses to continue charging, while in reality, it is over-discharged.
Please plug the EB3A into the AC home grid, and charge until it is 100%.
After that, please turn on the AC and DC output of the EB3A. After 30 minutes to 1 hour, the EB3A will drop from 100% to 99% due to self-consumption.
After the SOC of EB3A drops to 99%, please disconnect EB3A from the home grid to see if the EB3A can be turned on normally. If so please AC charge the EB3A again.
Normally, the EB3A will work well after charging, and let us know, we will push the new firmware to avoid this problem happen again.
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
Please follow the previous troubleshooting steps we provided to charge the EB3A until it returns to normal. Once the EB3A can charge properly, you can proceed with the firmware upgrade.
Now, I have applied to upgrade your firmware.
Our IT department will push the latest firmware to your unit in 24 hours.
Please upgrade the firmware then. Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please let us know if it does help.
Hi @BLUETTI_CARE , thanks for the firmware, it’s been upgraded from DSP v2056.10 to v2056.15 and ARM kept at v2062.03. It looks good. But I’ll not test out the situation when it discharged to zero %, at least at presence, perhaps some time later. Thanks.
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for getting back to us so quickly.
It’s our pleasure to help you!
We expect your test results.
Please feel free to contact us if you need our help.
I disconnected the battery and charged it a little bit with a programmable power supply and reconnect it. I discharged it until the SOC shows 99% and than i calibrate it with fully charge and discharge.
It only occurs when the device turns off at 100% after fully charge, you discharge the device in one row, the device is not calibrated and the BMS shuts the battery down. After it is connect to Mains it shows 100%.

Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for the update. It seems that enabling the AC/DC output and upgrading the firmware did not help.
I think you need a repair service. Do you agree?
If you have any questions about how to reach the appropriate customer service team or concerns about the service process, please send us a private message with your order information so that we can arrange priority service for you.
@BLUETTI_CARE I bought the EB3A on 2022-09-22, and I got a replacement on 2023-07-12. I think it is out of warranty. Anyway, as long as I can use it (charging up to 100%, and discharging down to 0%, automatically shutdown itself) I can stand with it. Just need to take some actions to recover after the power outage took too long. Still can’t understand the “sensor” shows 100% when the battery is actually 0. Do you mean the sensor is at fault? Thanks.
Hi @kaycekwan, Thank you for providing the details about your EB3A unit.
The EB3A appears to be out of warranty. Please note that repairs for out-of-warranty units involve labor, parts, and shipping costs, which may not be cost-effective.
We consider an internal battery capacity sensor may be malfunctioning, causing inaccurate capacity readings.
Recommended Troubleshooting Steps:
a) Use a low-power car charger to charge the unit
b) Fully discharge to 0%
This cycle may help recalibrate the battery capacity detection.
It happens when it was over-discharged (to 0, or whatever it was), EB3A will shutdown itself (my understanding). Connecting AC input, though it shows 100% (and not charging), actually it is zero. In this situation, to recover the condition of not charging, simply put a load (of 10, 20 watts), then, wait for several minutes, it will shows 99% and at the same time it shows it is charging. When you see this “charging”, then it is recovered. One thing bear in mind don’t let EB3A over-discharged unattended. It might brick itself, then you need to connect both AC input and DC input to recover. Also the recovering period can be long, can be as long as an hour. Hope this helps.
