DC1 charger

I have a DC 1 charger hooked up in my Transit Trail. It is on CCP2 so there is no power available to the charger when the van is turned off. Directions on the charger say to turn the vehicle on and then turn on charger to protect battery. That is a pain as I would need to start the van, get out, got to back and turn on charger every time I drive. And then turn it off after I stop. Can I leave the charger turned on and have it just become active when I start the van? It seems to turn off about 30 seconds after shut down the van. Thanks.

I’m assuming your DC1 charger is the Bluetti Charger 1. If so, it can be turned on via the App and bluetooth from the drivers seat, providing the circuit breaker is also on.

Thanks for the input.
When my DC1 charger curcuit breaker is on with van off the charger does not pull any power from van’s battery.
When I start the van, the charger starts up, turns on the ac300 and batteries, and starts charging. When I turn off the van, the DC1 waits about 30 seconds and shuts down.
My question is, is anything damaged by leaving the DC1 breaker on all the time?

Yeah, that’s right. If you’re talking about the Bluetti DC1 charger, you can switch it on through the app over Bluetooth, even from the driver’s seat. Just make sure the breaker is already turned on, otherwise the app won’t activate it.
Pretty handy once you set it up.

@Chris3 No, nothing is damaged. But…

The circuit breaker should be there for 2 reasons; 1 is to isolate the Charger 1, 2 is to protect the circuit, (cable) however if it were done properly, it should be as close to the source end of the cable, not near charger 1. for that reason, I along with many others suggest a Midi Fuse of 60A near the start battery on the positive (+) wire to protect the cable run.

My other suggestion is; If you have longer breaks between use, turn the circuit breaker off, just in case. I only use my Bluettis when camping and over the hot summer here, might not trip for the next 4 months or so.

My setup does not use the Bluetti input cable. I made up a short lead from my Aux Bat primary output thru a 60A midi fuse and the negative through a smart shunt, then to an Anderson plug. I then made up a 30cm cable with Anderson one end and bare ends (soldered) to fit in the Charger 1 input. My reason here, is that apart from using in vehicle, I can quickly remove Charger 1, place in the caravan and tap power from a spare 100Ah LFP battery to quickly charge when using the Elite in caravan. Removal is as simple as a couple of screws and and an Anderson plug. The spare LFP has a fused short cable attached also with Anderson, so it’s plug n play.

Good suggestion Mandp. Thank you.
