DC input and output

I’m using a AC500 and expansion batteries to power my sailboat. I will be charging primarily with solar. But I’d also like to charge from the alternator when motoring. What’s the largest wire size I can run from the alternator? I know I can run any size I suppose, but what’s the max DC input and corresponding wire size? I can figure out wire size with max input. Is there a connector for this other than the cigarette lighter plug? And then what’s the max DC output/wire size I can run to the DC fuse panel? And what connector?

Thank you!

Hi @Rfury,

when charging from a alternator, your are limited to the AC500 Solar Input. Max. 3.000 W, VOC 12-150 VDC, 15 A. The Cable included with the AC500 should be just abour right for this.

greetings

That depends on the length of the supply cable.
The longer the cable, the higher the resistance.
I would recommend a cable cross-section of 4 mm², then you won’t go wrong.
