My D050S used to charge my B230 through my car’s alternator but recently has stopped working.
Set up:
12-24v voltage booster is hooked up directly to the car’s battery, which is then connected to the D050s. I have tested the car’s voltage before booster, after booster, and after the D050S. All read normal voltages with final voltage out of the D050S being 59v, as expected.
When I connect my b230 to the D050S, the light just stays green, even though battery needs to be charged. I have waited a few minutes and nothing happens.
When I remove the D050s from my booster set up and use the cigarette plug, it works. The problem is somewhere between the car battery to the D050S, but they all read normal voltages. Please advise on what I should troubleshoot next.
thank you. I have confirmed that the D050S works when I bypass the booster and directly plug the cigarette adapter into car.
However, I still find it strange that the green light is on when I use the booster (and when directly to battery, but without the booster via a cable I made with XT90 connectors), but is not able to charge. Is it possible that the car is not able to provide enough current to charge? Voltage wise everything is looking good.
Sorry ! I didn’t see your last sentence clearly, where you say that the D050s works well on the cigarette lighter socket.
I have a D050S, a B230, two AC200max and I can tell you the following thing (these are my own conclusions, it is not written anywhere in the manuals):
when the D050S green LED flashes, the input voltage is too weak.
When the green LED is on, without flashing
-either the voltage and power are sufficient, but the D050S is not connected to the B230 (AC200max etc…) or the b230 is fully charged
-or the input voltage is good but the power is insufficient, and the D050S does not then deliver power to the B230.
Finally when the D050 has sufficient input voltage and power, and it is connected to the B230 (AC200max etc.) and the battery is not fully charged, then the D050S charges the generators and the LED turns red.
For me, your tests show that the D050s works well since it charges your B230 when it is plugged into the cigarette lighter port.
When you plug it into your DC booster, it no longer charges the B230, so it is your DC Booster which has a problem: it continues to deliver sufficient voltage (the D050S LED is green) but it is no longer capable to deliver sufficient power (Amp) for the D050S to charge the B230. This is why the B230 LED does not turn red but remains green.
You can test your DC booster on another device (compatible with the voltage delivered) to verify it.
Thank you. I will continue to troubleshoot, as I believe my issue is falling into scenario 2.2. Since it worked before, and is not working now, I suspect that it’s potentially an issue with the relay failing and not being able to provide enough current.
