Connecting the 'Charger 1' to a Relay

Hi,

I have a Bluetti Charger 1 connected to my car and charging an AC180P.

Is there any DISADVANTAGE of adding a relay in between so ‘charger 1’ will only get power when the car is ON?

Thanks

Providing you have a relay that can handle at least the 60A of the circuit breaker, none that I see.

My 4x4 has a 185A old fashioned can solenoid, IGN switched. It provides 3 circuits;

  1. To the 40A fused Anderson on the rear bumper for caravan DC-DC (25A Redarc)
  2. The caravan Antisway at 30A fused, also rear bumper.
  3. The rear of the 4x4 inside also 40A fused for the Auxilliary battery 20A DC-DC.

    I run my Charger 1 from the Aux battery as I already have enough alternator load and switch it off when stopped.
    I run it at around 240W output to keep overall Aux Bat load to a minimun as it also runs my 12V fridge in the rear of the 4by. :smile:

Don’t forget to fuse the relay from the supply battery and the output. As well as the IGN source.
