Chat with Perplexity - Elite 200 V2 sub-5% power Q

Here’s the chat I just had with Perplexity about my effort to rely on my 900w solar panels’ input to keep my Bluetti Elite 200 V2 going (thus, save my refrigerator food) when I’m away from home during an extended grid outage. My refrigerator is plugged into my Bluetti and then my Bluetti, of course, is plugged into my home’s grid through a standard wall plug. And I am setting the Bluetti to optimize solar power.

My concern arises from the sub-5% battery power scenario, where I’m away from home, the power goes out, too many grey days go by, and the Bluetti’s battery falls below 5%. In that scenario, the operator’s manual (v3.0 page 20) appears to warn that the Bluetti will not automatically restart when the grid comes back on. Instead, I must be there to “manually” restart it.

My Question: Why? Why can’t it be set to never fall below 5% so that doesn’t happen (fine, my refrigerator – if unopened – can do a day while “off” without my food spoiling), and thus, I don’t have to worry about being home to manually restart the Bluetti?

What am I missing? Perplexity explains (its summary):

  • You can rely on Bluetti to protect your fridge in all but the rarest scenario: If the battery drops below 5% and sunlight is inadequate to start charging, you may require a manual restart after full depletion. Solar-only reactivation from 0% is not guaranteed to restart the AC output automatically.

  • For maximum reliability during multi-day outages, aim to size your solar so the battery rarely, if ever, goes below 5%, especially in low-sun seasons.
