Charger 1 Usage

Has anyone used a Charger 1 (or any DC to DC converter) to recharge a Bluetti Power Bank by connecting to a Prius auxiliary battery? If so, has there been any issues?

Hi @NoahARK

Basicly the Charger 1 can take any 12V or 24V Input and convert it to a higher voltage. You just need to make sure, that the battery actually supports the energy draw (especially with 12V, there are a lot of amps).

That I understood. My concern is that when I asked specifically of using it in a Prius, Bluetti said it should only be used in a vehicle with an alternator. I can see no reason that using it in a Prius in Ready mode would mot work. They " mumbled" something about voltage fluctuations. So I was trying to find some actual use of the Charger 1 on a Prius to see if it did, in fact, pose some issues.

@BLUETTI_CARE Do the support-team know anything special of hybrid vehicles in combination with the charger 1?

Hi @NoahARK, Thank you for your interest in our product.
Charger 1 cannot directly charge an auxiliary (live) battery. However, you can charge your battery indirectly through one of our newer model power stations.

This is because Charger 1 does not support constant current (CC) output. When charging a battery, both constant current (CC) and constant voltage (CV) modes are required to ensure a safe and efficient charging process, and to protect the battery from damage.

Have you already purchased one of our power stations? If not, we recommend the AC200L combined with the D40. This setup can be used to charge the Prius auxiliary battery.

Many thanks to @Selfmadestrom for the professional explanation and kind support.

I am not trying to charge the Prius aux battery. I want to charge a Bluetti power bank from the Prius using the Charger 1. The input to the Charger 1 would be attached to the Prius aux battery. The output to the Bluetti powe bank. The Prius would be in Ready mode when charging the power bank.
