I use my Charger 1 to charge my Bluetti EB3A and my 100ah Lithium camper battery (via a Victron Solar Controller). Works great for both. But I have to do it manually Any ideas for a setup where I flip a switch to that? I have my Charger 1 in bed of my truck mounted on side with the included MC4 cables. Right now I hook my EB3A with the included MC4 to DC adapter and have a weatherproof SAE socket flush mounted on my tonneau cover. When I want to charge the my camper battery connect an SAE cable between the SAE socket on the tonneau to an SAE socket on the camper storage tub connected to the solar controller which is connected to the lithium battery. I want like to install an SAE plug next to my 7 pin socket by the hitch ball and install some kind of switch where I can switch between the 2 outputs. I use the 28v setting for both. Any ideas?
Switching live high output DC with the wrong switch can cause arcing accross the terminals. That said, yes it can be done, either via a manual switch or a relay. Make sure it’s 2 pole to switch both pos & neg cables. (+/-)
Which ever way you do this, I would advise you to go into the Charger 1 App and turn charging off before switching, then switch to the other device, then turn Charger 1 back on.
As a safety precaution, I would also suggest that you size any cabling and switchgear to the maximum 560W output of the Charger 1 i.e. At least 60A, even though your load is in the high 300sW at around 30A. I know this, as I set my Charger 1 to 25V output last week and it outputs 315W at that voltage drawing around 25-26A.
Edit, don’t forget input fusing.
I forgot to mention - Place your switch close to the Charger 1 with a fuse between C1 and Switch input.
