Charger 1 Shutting Down

Hi,

I have a Fiat Ducatto Based Camper and a charger 1 directly connected to the start battery, the light comes on the charger 1 flashing slowly and then it goes off, if I disconnect and reconnect after a couple of mins it flashes slowly again and goes out.

Any idea’s on this problem ?

Thanks

First thing to do is check voltages with a multi meter. At the start battery, then the input terminals of the Charger 1 and at the output.
Q. is the engine running?
Q. is this before connecting to a power station?

Hi,
I have checked the voltage with a multimeter on the starter battery the strange thing is the voltage does not seem to change from the 12.7 volts even with the engine running, it dips down when the ignition is on to 11.9 so this could be why the charger 1 shuts off thinking its not been charged the van is a 2021 so could it be the smart alternator thinking it does not need to charge.

If I look on the vans control unit a CBE PC380-BS Both leisure and van battery show 14.2v plus the charging light on the dash goes out

I have tried both connected to a power station and not but it seems to make no difference.

Not sure if it makes a difference but the van also has solar to charge the leisure batteries that are wired in parallel.

I have just checked at the cars jump start point and that is reading 12.8 - 12.9 volts as well with the engine running.

Strange that the battery is at 12.9, but yor control unit shows 14+V.
