Charger 1 on Newer Cars

Hi,
I plan on installing my Charger 1 on a 2025 Subaru Forester and have a few concerns before going through: the Charger 1 will pull up to 50 A (≈560 W) when it can. The Forester’s stock 110 A alternator realistically delivers closer to 70–90 A continuous once you factor in heat and “smart” ECU load-management—even less at idle. I’m worried that under normal driving the alternator will hit its limit fairly quickly or become overloaded.

In other words, although the Charger 1 is supposed to shut off below ~12 V to protect the battery, my understanding is that it doesn’t actively throttle its current draw to stay under the alternator’s sustainable limit. Has anyone relied solely on Charger 1’s undervoltage protection without limiting its max amperage in the app? Has anyone with a similar setup (Forester or other modern “smart-charging” vehicles) successfully run Charger 1 without any major hick ups?

I appreciate any feedback or tips to make sure I don’t overstress my Forester’s charging system. Thanks in advance!
