I recently purchased a Bluetti Charger 1 bundled with an AC200L, but I’m experiencing a recurring issue. The Charger 1 shuts off intermittently while charging. It runs fine for about 5 minutes, then shuts off for 30–60 seconds, turns itself back on, and resumes charging. This happens randomly and without a clear pattern.
Here’s what I’ve tried so far to troubleshoot the issue:
- The Charger 1 is wired directly to the positive and negative terminals of my 2020 Subaru Crosstrek’s battery, which has a 130-amp smart alternator.
- I’m running it with the car parked and idling.
- I updated the firmware for both the Charger 1 and the AC200L.
- I’ve tested charging at the assigned voltage of 56 volts, as well as custom voltages of 45, 40, 35, and 30 volts, but the issue persists.
- I’ve tried using the charger 1 with the adaptive setting on and off and have the same problem with shutdown both ways.
- the AC200L has the DC Input Source set to Self-adaptive
- The car battery voltage is approximately 14.2 volts with the engine running and 12.6 volts when the car is off.
Unfortunately, none of these steps have resolved the problem, and I’m out of ideas at this point. I’ve contacted Bluetti customer support but thought I’d post the issue here as well to see if anyone else has had a similar issue and resolved it.
Thank you for your suggestions. Here’s what I’ve done so far:
-
Voltage and Current Readings: While charging is set to 56V, the input voltage displayed on the Charger 1 app is 13.3V, with a clamp meter showing a 51A current on the input cable. Sorry I can’t make a video of the app while I’m using it on my phone.
-
Cable and Breaker: I am using the provided 6-gauge input cable, with the additon of 60A breaker added near the battery connection.
-
Firmware and Settings: Both the AC200L and Charger 1 are updated to the latest firmware. I’ve also turned off adaptive mode in the Charger 1 app and set the DC Input Source on the AC200L to “Others.”
additionally the shutdown loop happens after about 3 minutes of charging at 56 volts. If I reduce the charging votage to 45 volts the shutdown happens about every 7 minutes. the voltage shown on the Charger 1 app while charging at 45 volts is a bit higher at 13.5 volts and I’m seeing 40 amps on a clamp meter attached to the 6 gauge input wire coming from the car.
Let me know if there’s anything else I should check or adjust!
Hi @JackerySux
the charger 1 works by making a 12V System output up to 60V, in order to utilize higher power and lower current on the Output side. This voltage step up only works in a certain voltage range, if the voltage falls below, it may cant hold the configured output voltage.
I could think of the following things:
- Too much load in the system to provide a stable voltage at the chargers 1 input. Means the voltage drop sometimes to a point, where it stops working, but the battery voltage rises quickly because the charger 1 as consumer was disconnected.
- Faulty Battery could also cause, that voltage cant be hold and is not stable. If you battery is nearly 5 years old, its maybe time for a new one.
- Did you try to charge with a nearly 0 difference as output, to see what happends? Like 15V at the output (or the lowest value for AC200L)?
greetings
Erik
I think I just solved my issue! I had added a 60 amp breaker on the 6 guage wire right near the battery. I replaced it with a 60 amp bojack fuse and it’s working great now. I just charged for 30 minutes with the Subaru idling at 800 rpm at 56 volts and it worked perfectly. checked the voltage on the battery after chargeing and it’s 12.6 volts.
Thanks for your suggestions. previously when I was having an issue I did notice that it kept working longer at a lower charge voltage.

I solved my problem. I had added a 60amp breaker to the input cable and when I replaced this with a 60amp fuse everything is working as it should. Thanks for your help!
