Charger 1 : Hybrid Car

I have a Charger 1 and an Elite 200 on order, both will mainly be used in our Ducato ( Promaster) based camper.

However, I would also like to be able to use them - possibly buying a second Charge 1 rather than moving between vehicles- in our Rav 4 PHEV.

I’m concerned as the PHEV lacks a normal alternator. The 12V battery is charged via an electronic charger - I have no idea of the available current etc. Unlike ‘normal’ cars, the 12V battery isn’t used to start the engine when needed - at least in terms of the starter motor- therefore it is quite modest.

Has anyone any experience of using a Charge 1 in a RAV4 PHEV, please?

Thank you.

For hybrid vehicles, Charger1 must be connected to the starter battery (not the hybrid/HEV battery) to function properly. Some hybrids keep these batteries separate, so double-check your vehicle’s manual or consult a mechanic to locate the correct terminals.
