Hello, I have a 110V/400W power outlet in my Ford Bronco. My AC180 is unable to charge. I’m on the latest firmware (according to the app) and Grid-adaptation enabled, with Silent mode.
I can charge my EB70 without a problem, but not the AC180.
I saw you can enable something for the specific unit, so it will work with low-power outlets. Can I please get the same? Without that, my unit it’s useless for my needs.
Most in car inverters are Modified Sine Wave (dirty power). Bluette PBs need Pure Sine Wave to charge (clean power such as the grid).
I have a 240VAC 150W inbuilt to my 4x4, it’s useless for most applications as it’s MSW. I installed a 375 Victron run from my Auxiliary battery. It’s PSW and charges my AC180 or AC70 on silent mode no issues. :)
Hi @Bojler, For this issue, please note that the EB70 has relatively low power requirements for charging. Some electrical designs and protection mechanisms can allow low-power sources to charge the EB70.
However, the AC180 has higher power demands and does not benefit from the adapter functionality when using a direct AC charging cable. Additionally, vehicle power outlets typically provide modified sine waves rather than pure sine waves, which may prevent effective power transfer to the AC180, leading to charging failures.
Thank you for @Mandp’s explanation, it is very detail and helpful.
To address the problem you’re experiencing, we’re applying for an update to push the new firmware DSP v2126.04 to your device. Our IT department will push the latest version of firmware to your machine in 12 hours.
Please do not load any device when upgrading it.
Please let us know if it works.
Hello. I updated the firmware, but the unit is still not capable of charging in my car. Word GRID is blinking on the display. Same behavior as before the update. Do I need to adjust some settings or do something specific to allow low-power charging?
Or is there an adapter I can use to charge the unit via DC input? It you say that is why EB70 is capable of charging from my car, I guess I might need to do the same?
Question is, can this adapter handle the Modified Sine Wave coming out from the 110V outlet in my car, and convert it to the Pure Sine Wave so the AC180 will be charging?
I’m assuming the same principle is with the EB70 adapter, which works with my car’s outlet.
If yes, this might save not only me, but many people, the hassle with installing a PSW inverter in the car.
