Hi…I have two EB3A power stations. One, about a year old, charged up on Day 1 with no issues, and has performed perfectly ever since. The second, which I received today…not so good! I connected it to AC to charge it up, using the factory-supplied cable, and within 15 minutes I started to smell a faint ‘burning’ odor. It got worse, bad enough I had to open the windows, and place it outside. So - is this just part of the normal start-up behavior, which will go away soon? Or do I have a bad unit? Thank you.
It is possible that there are some lubricant or oil that is heating up and making a little smell. It shouldn’t be that bad, but people have different sensitivity to smells.
If you want to test it out more, try charging it outside on a surface that won’t burn and see what happens. If it still smells bad after 1 full cycle, then something is up and I won’t use it again and go return it.
Snowstorm, that’s great advice. I’ll let it run down to very low power, then do an outdoors recharge to 100%, as you suggested. That may be the end of it! But yes, if it persists, I’ll swap 'er out for a new unit. I appreciate your answer. Thank you.
Hi @HD-Dude
wouldnt worry to much about at. As snowstorm said, there just might be some leftovers from fabrication process that will go away after a few times.
greetings
Erik
@HD-Dude There will be a bit of a smell when the device is first used, so I suggest you keep an eye on it for a while.
Thank you, Erik! I appreciate it! And yes, the consensus is, it’s no big deal. Thanks again!
Thank you, Bluetti_Care! Good to know it’s a normal thing. Also good to know that customer care reads the forums, and helps its members. As I said, this is my 2nd Bluetti EB-3A. I find so many uses for this unit! And I believe I’ll be buying bigger units in the future. Thanks again, and I will keep an eye on it - as you suggest.
@HD-Dude Holler if you have any questions, comments, or concerns. ALOT of fellow bluetti addicts here willing to help out!
Thank you! Cycling it through…I’ll report back if the smell continues, or fades!
If it fades after a cycle or two then you are good.
I have a bunch of BLUETTI stuff, most but not all perfect, but they stand behind their stuff and will make it right if you get unlucky.
Hi again! After running it down to the single digits, and then recharging it, 4 times total…the odor went away. Thanks everyone for your advice and comments, I appreciate it!
All is well!
Now, of course, I want to buy more! Ha!
