Bluetti ep500 earth wire

Hi all,

Is there’s any option to have an earth (ground) wire on brand new Bluetti EP500 Pro?

I can’t launch heater and socket tester says that earth wire is missing

Hi @platform !
There should be a earth terminal on the backside of the unit, located near the main Battery switch. Atleast for my EU Units

greetings
Erik

Hi @platform, The EP500Pro is a portable power station that uses a floating ground, which means grounding is not necessary when operating off-grid. If your load does not require grounding, you can skip it.

However, since your heater requires grounding, you can choose one of the following three methods to ground your system:

  1. Grounding via AC Charging Cable
Connect the EP500Pro to a grounded wall outlet using the AC charging cable. This is the simplest method.
  2. Grounding via Distribution Panel
For off-grid use, you can ground the EP500Pro by connecting it to a distribution panel through its output and using wiring to establish grounding. To connect it with your home distribution box, please purchase a transfer switch first, it needs manually opened.
  3. Grounding for Outdoor Use
When outdoors, you can purchase a plug that only provides a ground connection. Insert the plug into the AC output socket of the EP500Pro, and connect the ground wire from the plug to a grounding rod for proper grounding.

Please make use of the built-in grounding point on the EP500Pro. Thanks to @Selfmadestrom for highlighting that the EP500Pro has a dedicated grounding point located near the main switch at the back. You can connect your ground wire to this spot to ensure safe and reliable physical grounding for the device.

Please indicate the size of the screw required for this. It’s not in the manual, and my test earlier today tells me it’s NOT an M5, so maybe something a little smaller like an M4/M3.5?

Hi @bluettiblunoser, thank you for getting in touch with us.
The EP500PRO is floating-grounded. And please do not worry, our product has a BMS system; if it is overcurrent or overloaded, it will start self-protection.
Grounding is only required when using off-grid and with loads that mandate mandatory grounding.

We would like to know if your EP500PRO is the US-spec version. If it is, please click the link below to purchase a neutral grounding plug, which can be connected to the AC output socket of the EP500PRO.

Thanks, and appreciate the assurance and peace of mind. I’ve had no issues so far, but I’d still like to know as I have not seen it in any posts I’ve searched so far. I haven’t bought the other sizes yet, but will. I just know an M5 is a bit too big. =)

Hi @bluettiblunoser, thank you for your update.
Yes, please don’t worry at all. Most users don’t need to purchase an additional grounding screw.
If your load doesn’t require mandatory grounding, you won’t encounter any issues.
Even if your load does require mandatory grounding, the worst-case scenario is that the system won’t operate—but this will not damage our power station or your load.
