Bluetti Charger 2 - D+ connection - Mercedes Vito W447 Van

Hi everyone,

I’m having difficulty setting up my Charger 2 in my Mercedes-Benz Vito (W447). The vehicle uses variable voltage (smart alternator) system, so assume it requires the D+ signal cable otherwise the voltage drops under 13V and the Charger 2 stops working. The Charger 2 works fine if the Voltage is over 13v.

Bluetti does not sell the D+ signal cable as an accessory and has advised me to purchase one from Amazon. However, I haven’t been able to find a suitable product online. Has anyone successfully purchased a D+ signal wire online and can recommend one?

I’m also unsure how best to connect the D+ wire in the Vito (W447). Do I need to piggyback it from one of the fuses in the fuse box under the passenger seat and if so which one, or is there a customer connection point on the auxiliary battery or elsewhere in the vehicle that I can use?

If anyone has experience installing a D+ cable in a Mercedes Vito, I would really appreciate your guidance.

Many thanks,
Richard

I can also can’t find this cable. Mine won’t charge once my car battery is full. Do you also have this problem?

Hi John,
I’ve been able to solve my issues.
So i’ve had to buy the elements separately to create a D+ signal.
You need:

  1. 18AWG Red (+ve) wire (length pending how you are wiring it in your vehicle)
  2. 2 Pin Connector with 5.08mm pitch. (I recommend a vertical one which you crimp/solder opposed to the screw in)
Note you do not need to add the negative wire / ground wire to the connector. This was my issue and was shorting my fuse when I added a ground.
    Now the system works.
Regarding your question about ‘won’t charge when Battery is full’, not understanding your issue?? Car Battery full?
If you need more guyidance or assistance feel free to reach out.

Cheers
Richard
