Subject: Battery Calibration and Discharge Question – AC180
Dear BLUETTI Support Team,
I am writing regarding my BLUETTI AC180, which I purchased brand new. Initially, everything worked properly. However, I am currently located in Ukraine, where we experience periodic power outages. Because of this, I have been using the unit regularly and often discharging it to different levels — sometimes to 30%, 40%, or 50% — and then recharging it back to 100%.
Recently, I have noticed that the battery seems to be draining faster than before. It feels like the available capacity has decreased, although the unit is not being discharged below 30–40% in most cases.
I would like to ask whether it is recommended to perform a full battery calibration cycle (discharging the unit to 0% and then charging it back to 100%) in this situation.
I understand that the manual and various sources recommend not discharging the battery below 5%, which makes me concerned about intentionally running it down to 0%. Is it safe to do so for calibration purposes? Does the AC180 have built-in protection to prevent deep discharge damage? I would like to avoid any potential issues that could require service intervention.
Could you please advise:
- Whether a full discharge to 0% is safe and recommended for calibration.
- How often such a calibration cycle should be performed (if at all).
- Whether my usage pattern (partial discharge to 30–50% and recharge to 100%) could affect the battery indicator accuracy.
