Hi I recently purchased a Bluetti AC200L battery and am very happy with it. However, I now want to add solar panels to it. I have cleared a small area in my yard right behind my house to place them, if that is too far I can set them up on my deck or get them installed up on the roof. However I have been searching around a lot for Bluetti brand panels (since they’d be the most compatible I would think) and all I can find for sale that they say are compatible with the AC200L are these small “portable” panels that look like they’d be prone to blowing away easily (I get strong winds where I live) and I thought well, I can use something to anchor them. but then I read the specs on them and they all can’t be ‘left out’ in the rain…? I suspect I’m wrong about this since it makes no sense that an outdoor solar panel array isn’t weatherproof, but I didn’t want to take chances so I thought I would ask here first and get some clarification. I absolutely need any solar panel I get for this to be able to be rained on. We get a LOT of rain around here. Also the charging cable that comes with them is only 10 feet long and that just isn’t long enough to reach into the room where I need to keep the battery even if I snake it out through the nearest window to the deck–I need it at least 25 feet preferably 50. Is it possible to get a longer one? Thank you all for any answers you can provide!
As far as I know, the current Bluetti solar panels are all portable offerings. They will handle rain fine but not for long term. Bluetti portable panels are for camping trips etc. They have fabric that will deteriorate when left in the weather for a long time.
If you want a long term outdoor solution, just get regular rigid rooftop solar panels and anchor them properly. These are built for all weather use. As long as you stay within the voltage range supported by the PV input of your Bluetti power station it will do fine.
Thank you very much! It is a shame Bluetti doesn’t have any solar panels of the kind I need, but as long as there is something that is fully compatible with it then it should be fine. My plan for setup is to use the batteries all the time and have them hooked up to the solar panels all the time. The grid where I live is terrible and getting worse and we get power outages a lot, sometimes lasting days. I work remotely so I can’t rely on it anymore.
